Woman marrying fairground ride

In Telegraf here

"Amy Wolfe, a US church organist who claims to have objectum sexuality, a condition that makes sufferers attracted to inanimate objects, plans to marry a magic carpet fairground ride."

If this thread gets discussed enough to make the top 5, I suggest to MN Towers "All swings and roundabouts?" or "Marriage is a merry-go-round" as a Pithy Thread Description. You can have those for free.

I saw a programme years ago about a lady who married the eiffel tower

SolidGoldBrass · 05/08/2009 23:08

I like the fact that she's a church organist and self-declared sexual wierdo. Only in America...

Yurtgirl · 05/08/2009 23:08

There was a documentary on last year about this lady and several others

Fences and the berlin wall afair

For those who arent telegraph readers this lady's story was also featured in Closer last week

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 05/08/2009 23:11

I think it's lovely that she's willing to make the commitment.

Lifeinagoldfishbowl · 05/08/2009 23:12

saw that too dizzy

Yurtgirl · 05/08/2009 23:12

FWIW there are quite a few other people who similar shall we say - in this country too

I agree its all rather weird but I think its unfair to say she 'claims to have objectum sexuality' - Having watched the programme she and the others featured really really do feel a sexual attraction to inatimate objects - weird its true, but I feel sympathy for them I have to say

Yurtgirl · 05/08/2009 23:28

Not that I am one obviously
Just that I can see how some people love men, some love women, some people are so fond of cats they have 32 of them

And a few love walls
And fairground rides apparently

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 23:31

I know a few who have married men who actually turned out to be as much use as a merry go round ....

How can you have a ceremony?

"Do you, magic fairground ride, take Amy to be your lawful wedded wife"

"Bingely bingley dingely dong ....."

????

How does she know it is a male fairground ride? Surely most US states ban gay marriage?

fruitshootsandheaves · 05/08/2009 23:33

it will just drive her round the bend, get her in a spin but will at least make the earth feel like it moved.

CarmenSanDiego · 05/08/2009 23:34

PMSL at "Bingely bingley dingely dong ...."

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 23:35

I thought that was the sound all fairground rides made

MamaG · 05/08/2009 23:36

Am also ROFL at "Bingely bingley dingely dong ...."

I'd marry a carousel if pushed. If I will millions on the lottery, I'm having one in my garden

MamaG · 05/08/2009 23:36

WIN millions natch

midlandsmumof4 · 06/08/2009 00:07

Suspect the relationship will have its ups and downs.

Tidey · 06/08/2009 00:16

I've just read this because it came up on Twitter, I don't get it. Is it the statue of the beardy man on the ride that she's in love with or the ride itself? How does anyone get the horn from a merry go round?

It'll all end in divorce when she meets a really sexy supermarket trolley anyway.

StinkyFart · 06/08/2009 00:16

I am ROARING at you lot

BitOfFun · 06/08/2009 00:21

She will come back down to earth with a bump, I'm afraid, and will end up feeling sick and ripped off when it all goes off the rails...

Pan · 06/08/2009 00:23

Well this is going to be a real roller coaster.....[yawn.....grin]

StinkyFart · 06/08/2009 00:25

keep 'em coming

Pan · 06/08/2009 00:28

"plans to marry a magic carpet fairground ride. "

so it swept her off her feet???
and this story will take some beating.....

Tidey · 06/08/2009 00:28

Even if they can't be together all the time, at least she'll get a ride whenever she sees him.

siouxsieandthebanshees · 06/08/2009 00:32
Grin
UnquietDad · 06/08/2009 00:39

I suppose, as inanimate objects go, a fairground ride is pretty "up there". Its the Brad Pitt of inanimate objects.

She's not marrying a kettle (Barry who lives next door to the Spar)

HerHonesty · 06/08/2009 09:01

lol i have heard it all now!
