So much for the BNP trying to rebrand themselves as not racist....

"British National Party (BNP) chairman Nick Griffin has defended a party leaflet which says that black Britons and Asian Britons "do not exist".

The BNP's "Language and Concepts Discipline Manual" says the term used should be "racial foreigners". "

My DM had a run in with the BNP during the last council elections. They had been putting leaflets through post boxes saying things like "The Nepalese Youth have been harassing the local white population" and such like. Complete bollocks; if anything it's more likely to be the other way around. Anyway: on election day, off trots DM to the polling station and spots the BNP candidate. "What are these lies that you're spreading? Do you have any evidence to back this up? DO YOU? This is defamation, you should be sued" and so on. She had to be moved on by the polling officer for BNP blokey's own protection [proud at slightly deranged DM emoticon]

actually I think the idiot that came up with these ideas would get on well with Mugabe - you see he thought it would work if the white farmers (and their workers) where just kicked off their land and if the land was given to "the people"...........problem was that most of the people that ended up with the land had no idea how to look after it and utilise it - so there are now 1000's of acres of unused land

I presume therefore that the BNP is also proposing to train and provide resources for those British workers that are having their jobs currently "stolen" to enable them to do which ever job they then take on???

Lulu - But don't you think they are spreading the net so wide by saying 'foreigners' that it's not going to work as a scapegoat? What I mean is, if you pick on a group that's small enough and insular enough (say, Poles or particular groups of Muslims) then most people won't know someone from that group so they are more likely to buy into the lies. However there can't be many people in the UK right now without at least one friend or neighbour or relative from one of the groups the BNP calls 'foreign', so hopefully this will put off a lot of the people who had recently been starting to give the BNP more credence.

I wonder how far back they'll go in terms of deciding who is a racial foreigner? I think they should stop mucking about and go back several centuries in determining who is a true Briton. And hey, if that leaves a Norse descended population of just 78, then so be it.

that is an interesting way of looking at it kathy,., but most people who thikn the way the BNP do, aren;t that bothered about teh semantics , they are just looking for excuses to be racist/ xenophobic .

Kathy - I don't think that what you're suggesting wrks in practice. My DMIL doesn't see the irony in her taking about how "P*kis" should be sent back when her DH's father was Polish. No-one thinks of themselves or their family as foreign - its always someone else

This idea of British jobs for British workers is seductive but completely innacurate. Ask any farmer - if it were left to British people half the crops we grow would be left to rot in the ground.

I would be repatriated to France under this rule, although I would have fair claim to asylum as I am too fat and that is illegal in France!

THe worst thing about the BNP is that they are attempting as we speak to field a candidate in every seat in the European elections. With an average turnout at Europeans in the UK of less than 25%, all they need to do is mobilise a fair number of their supporters to go and vote, and they seriously run the risk of getting into every seat. The effect on Europe and the UK would be horrendous. If you care at all about stopping this, you must tell everybody you know to be sure to vote in these elections! Very important. We discount fascism at our peril.

Family trees are a nonsense when you remember that something like 1 in 5 mothers lie or are uncertain about the paternity of their child. I suspect you don;t have to go far back in anyone's family to find 'foreign' blood.

Agree with spb although I bet they whinge about their "foreign" doctor afterwards. Poisonous so and so's.

Also, I often wonder why Australians and New Zealanders aren't usually included in these categorizations although they do "steal" many of of "our" bar and catering jobs.

Oh yes that's it they are white.

You know that programme where they did a profile of the make-up of peopl by doing a blood test? They did one of a cabbie who was "totally English through and through, no foreigners in my family" (his words).

His great great grandmother had been from Africa and it had been covered up in the family. He was much humbled by the end of the programme.

Wonder what species they would find Nick Griffin would have come from - perhaps rat?

I'm sometimes called racist on here because I don't go along with all the PC things, but this is stupid. If someone is born here they are British and that's all there is to it.

Doesn't he know any history? We are all immigrants if you go back far enough. Sometimes a couple of centuries is enough, but unless he thinks humans evolved here then he should realise we probably all came from africa originally.

I just looked him up on Wiki and apparently he has a 2.2 in history with law from Cambridge.
The law must have been useful in keeping him out of prison. I expect history was his weaker side.

wasabipeanut you're absolutely right. I'm American (and white), and I've had people here spout off to me about 'them forriners taking our jobs'.

It's very interesting to see their reaction when I point out that I'm a 'forriner' who 'took some British person's job'.
