Here

And at a 12stone dog too! It'd have totally flattened a child.

All over my best running shoes though. I'm not a happy Easter Bunny.

I imagine cleaning up a wheelchair must be as awful task if you have the misfortune to go through it.

Still as ruty points out - 'it's only a minority'. Keep repeating the mantra to yourself. Cos if that's the minority, imagine how bad it could be.

But, it IS a minority.

I've been out with Ddog this morning and picked up both times he 'went'...

It IS sad that it's not simply expected.

I saw a young lad with young puppy allowing it to toilet on the pavement of the high street yesterday and then allow it to run up to some unsuspecting passers-by!!! It was only a puppy but was a staffie so I can't imagine how it will turn out. The young lad just left the mess and looked very pleased with himself for doing so.

Thereagain it was about 3pm and he was drinking Stella . So, even though there were lots of people about (I was in a car) no-one was going to say anything...

Nancy66 · 05/04/2009 12:53

It absolutely is not the minority - seriously. More people don't pick up their dog shit than do. I see this on a daily basis.

I sometimes do challenge people but if it's some thug with a staffie or a rottweiler then I'm not going to say anything and they know that people won't tackle them and so they don't do it.

responsible dog owners are in the minority.

Haribosmummy · 05/04/2009 17:56

OK, I'll qualify that a bit:

The majority of dog owners have regulated their dogs so they KNOW when they need to use the toilet and then train them to use the garden or ensure they are taken somewhere appropriate (AKA NOT a footpath of any shape or form)

The minority of dog owners who can't be bothered to do this probably ALL don't care about leaving dog crap on the sides of pavements or footpaths.

With two DSDs, a DS and a baby on the way, I know I care deeply about the cleanliness of public areas. And I know the friends of mine who own dogs all do too.

Maybe it depends on where you live. If you like somewhere like St Mary Mead perhaps everyone picks up after their dog.

Where I live in London people just don't.

Haribosmummy · 05/04/2009 18:23

I'm really shocked at that.

my dog has an area of the garden which is his 'toilet'.

He knows not to poop in the other sections.

I conceed that I have a garden big enough to allow this, but I would think it's just common sense...

Surely SOME of these dog walkers have children????? Do they not think about the health consequences for their own kids if nothing else????????

Every single day, in my faintly posh part of Oxford, there are countless dog shits on the pavements and footpaths, despite dog bins.
