I'm not toally denying global warming has been happening and is happening, but the science behind the ipccs hockeystick chart is dubious at best. ANyone who has a degree of curosity should read cool it by bjorn lomborg - which is a critique of the scarmongering literatureout there.

also - interesting that this conference didnt get much press time, although there were much higher profile scientists in attendance than in copenhagen!

I can tell you all right now the politicians have no intention of doing anythng about Global Warming because it would mean people would have to stop flying and driving cars as much as they do and that is never going to be accepted politically.

Frankly, so what if the temperature might rise 2 degrees? The probability of it happening is not 100% guaranteed and we do not know truely what the consequences would be.

To be honest, if the electricity went off tomorrow for two weeks the economic, social and political impact would be so severe that the Govt would probably fall immediatley.

People care more about what is happening right to the economy and in their lives than what might or might not happen 100 years from now.

Don't lose sleep over the threat of Global Warming and rising sea levels. It may never happen and no one really wants to do anything to stop it anyway.

TheDevilwearsPrimark: "Thing is what is the point in us turning things off at the plug when China is doing what it is?"

The point I think is, that once everyone in the UK is living a carbon neutral lifestyle, we will be in a much stronger position to argue with other countries that they should be doing more too. And of course the carbon footprint of the average person in China is still far lower than the average person in the UK, so let's put our own house in order first!
