Primary Education is Deficient

I have thought this for a while.

There is too much emphasis on literacy and numeracy, which is squeezing subjects out of the curriculum. There is also too much emphasis on targets, and knowledge is devalued.

What was wrong with the old Topic system?

cat64, at my dd's school they teach topics in exactly the way you describe, and I thought that was the norm, really surprising to read that it's not.
