If someone has been given months/weeks left to live they should be able to do WHATEVER THE FUCK they want to do with the remainder of their time on earth.

Provided they aren't harming others, they should be able to do WHATEVER THE FUCK they choose to do without fear of criticism by supercillious sanctamonous morons who have the luxury of a life ahead of them.

MrsPurple · 14/02/2009 23:26

feel quite tearful (my DC's are the same age), it's a very sad story. Not because she's a celebrity (I'd feel the same if it was a friend of a friend).

Anyone who doesn't get chance to see their children grow up must be in emotional turmoil, never mind the pain she is suffering with the cancer.

Can't believe people have critised her decisions on this, unless you were in that situation who knows what you would do.

i've watched Jade through both big Brothers (and yes she can be very loud and opinionated),as alot of poeple can be, but she doesn't deserve what has been said about her.

I wish her happiness for the time she has left, and I hope her poor DS grow up to have a happy life (and appreciate the time they had with their mummy, without reading stories to blacken her memory), which is obviuosly going to happen.

Mums should stick together as we all want the best for our DC's.

onebatmother · 14/02/2009 23:30

God, well said Dittany. This criticism of a dying woman is in appalling taste.

Bloody hell, I have no idea what I would do in her shoes - can't bear to think about it.

onebatmother · 14/02/2009 23:31

Actually, tbh, I find not only the criticism, but the speculation rather unpleasant.

PuddingChops · 14/02/2009 23:46

This is very sad. My smear is very overdue. I wish the reminder letters you got from the surgery included an actual appointment time and date (like mammograms) then I think we would be less likely to put off.

SobranieCocktail · 15/02/2009 00:04

Gunnerbean - I totally agree.

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 15/02/2009 14:29

I read a comment somewhere about it being a bit of a class thing: when Ruth Picardie and John Diamond milked wrote about their cancers, everyone said how noble and brave they were because they were educated middle class people, but Jade is perceived as a vulgar chav and looked down on.

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2009 15:34

Why do people think this isn't news? Or if it isn't, then what about Patrick Swayze, Paul Gascgoine, George Best...I don't understand why this is the first time this "it's not news" comment is coming up?

mollyroger · 15/02/2009 15:49

I don't 'like' Jade (ffs I don't know her!) I suppose I mean, I don't like what little I've seen of her in the past.

But I know that I'd sleep with George Bush with a firework up me arse, on international tv, for whatever cash people were willing to pay for the spectacle - if it meant that I could make sure my children, and my dh, had one less thing to worry about after my death.

PeachyHasABrokenKeyboardSorry · 15/02/2009 15:54

I hope she does get married and I hope she has the best day of her life.

And I hope she makes a gazillion bucks for her kids.

And I hope if I ever got that illi'd have the non self absorption to be able to get up very morning and dos oemthing tohelp my boys.

I think what she is doing is admirable. I wish her luck, miracles and failing that peace and contentment.

SGB I read that too,and I think it's bang on.

nickschick · 15/02/2009 16:08

The point is is that Jade isnt a regular normal person like most of us - she is 'celebrity' and as such she has lived a life whereby her 'fame' allowed her to do things me and you might not be able to do for example I couldnt afford for my children to go to private school she can and she is making as much money s she can so her children can keep 'their way of life' even when she is no longer living.

She doesnt come from a money background and without financial support she knows her children will have no 'cushion' in life yet still be 'poor jade goodys boys'.

In a lighter comparison how many of us have gone to work knowing we should really stay home ill but knowing we need the wages we go?.

doggus · 15/02/2009 17:15

Mollyroger - in the middle of a grim subject, you really made me laugh. I think it was the firework up your arse....

Reallytired · 15/02/2009 17:33

If a teacher/ dentist/ computer programmer was diagnosed with terminal cancer, but chose to carry on working would they get slated or would be described as "terribly brave". For some people their job is their life and carrying on working as long as they are physically able to gives them some sense of normality.

I suppose that TV is Jade's job and her being in the spotlight helps keep her mind of more horrific things. I am sure she has good days and bad days.

wotulookinatasquotedinTheTimes · 15/02/2009 19:28

I think it's good of her to keep working. Everytime she is filmed or pictures, it's another thing for her kids to see later on, after she's gone. Plus, she has openly said it is bringing in money which will benefit her boys.

Ronaldinhio · 15/02/2009 19:56

I know that this is a bit of a cnutish thing to say but.....
Do you think that Jade knows that her will will be nullified by her marriage to Jack Tweed and that she will have to rewrite it after her nuptials to ensure that all of her cash is entrusted to her children as she wishes and not Jack Tweed...?
Dunno why but tis a worry to me!

marcolini · 15/02/2009 20:04

Ronaldinhio - she most likely has one agreed & she'll sign it once married

marcolini · 15/02/2009 20:06

I think she's so brave & strong - she speaks from the heart and her words will help many going through the same thing.

I read that the number having smear tests is up 20% since august.

wotulookinatasquotedinTheTimes · 15/02/2009 20:06

I should think she has people to look after that sort of thing.

Hulababy · 15/02/2009 20:07

It is very sad her her and her boys, and all those who know her. Tragic for any life to be cut short s soon.

DH is a probate lawyer and says she shouldn't get married - he will be entitled to claim way more of her boys money once they are married; he would have a far less claim if they remain unmarried. If they get married, even if she has a will, he'd be able to make a much bigger claim against it.

wotulookinatasquotedinTheTimes · 15/02/2009 20:08

oh

Vev · 15/02/2009 20:08

It's so sad, she's so young - it must be so hard to know you're going to leave your babies without their mummy whilst they're so young - I know it's my fear and mine are older. Poor Jade.

doggus · 15/02/2009 20:09

Ronaldhino - my thoughts entirely!

marcolini · 15/02/2009 20:11

Hula - the time the have known each other & ben together would be considered if he made a claim against her will.
