And your point is, grimupnorth?

Those articles you linked may well be true - that doesn't necessarily mean that the OP's article was inaccurate. Things are rarely black and white. There were reasons for Hamas being elected - not everyone in Gaza is, or wants to be a terrorist, however much certain groups might like to pretend this is so.

I don't think anyone is trying to evade a discussion about Israel.

There are plenty of threads doing just that.

This thread is interesting because it compares and contrasts articles about Hamas.

Kate, you are entirely missing my point. Entirely because you go on the same old, beaten track of Israel's crimes. I was not defending Israel and the latest actions. That is another thread and another subject entirely.

Can we not discuss other facets of the situation? At all? Or is that not possible?

I was questioning Hamas and its democratic - or any - validity if it goes around threatening/killing/beating its own people. So the subject was Hamas. Not the IDF's recent actions. Hamas.

I firmly believe that in the next few months not only will Israel face more opprobrium for its actions but so will Hamas as more and more truths emerge.

Are you suggesting it's ok for "desperate" people to kill and maim their own in the name of government? Then, is there a moral difference between Hamas and Israel?

Don't forget that we haven't got a lot of media coverage in Gaza because of the Israeli ban on foreign journalists but information will leak out.

Hamas police steal UN aid

To make sure it doesn't go to any Palestinians opposing Hamas.

Here it is from Reuters

Q.E.D.

Hamas are bstrds and will screw their own people for their own bloodthirsty ends.

The stories will come flooding now and the international community will just get so hacked off and frustrated with dealing with those Hamas thugs.

Now Israel should flood the area with aid. Get those Palestinians who do not support Hamas on side but of course aid should be distributed without prejudice. Give them something to live for. Give them all they need for a decent life. They do deserve that.

Wonder what Israel will do? Nothing. I wish they would take the upper hand morally because it would be so easy to do as Hamas never will and never could.
