Such a terribly tragic case in so many ways. It's heartbreaking to think that if he'd been caught earlier Rachel and Samantha and Jazmine Bisset could still be alive

The press coverage says Rachel's parents haven't seen their grandson for years, either. So desperately sad.

The police became so embroiled in and excited by their undercover activties that they lost sight of any coherent ivestigation.

I watched a documentary last night in which it was said they had been watching too many American police/psychology films.

I was nearly in tears reading this at work today. So many ruined lives . I can't really comment more cogently than that on it at the moment tbh.

Thank God for the sense of the Judge on that trial. It seems to me the Police were obsessed with Colin Stagg and woudl not countenance the idea of the killer being anyone else - so they fitted him up.

I do recall at the time the tabloids were at their repulsive worst and demonised Colin Stagg to within an inch of his life. I wonder if they will be forced to apologise too?

pantomimEDAMe · 21/12/2008 10:42

did the tabs pay him compensation at some point? Or am I imagining that?

Bitoffun - the profiler who worked on the Rachel Nickell case also worked on the case of the 'green chain rapist' - who turned out to be Robert Napper - Rachel, Samantha and Jazmine's killer.

yes colin stagg got £750k compensation
I hope it gave him a life.

Its so sad that Rachels parents seem to have no contact with their Grandson.
