she is always right.

HeadFairy · 09/12/2008 18:41

Here here... means you don't have to shave your pits too

roundcornvirgin · 09/12/2008 18:42

Or go down the gym

tillyblue · 09/12/2008 18:43

They can make you look so elegant too.

But she is particularly gorgeous.

devoutsceptic · 09/12/2008 18:45

roundcorn, I bet you are under 40! Once you are past 40, no matter how toned you are, funny things happen to arms. Skin appears where none used to be, pouchy bits arrive in your armpits. Elbows go weird.... it's a nightmare.
Saying that I still prefer no sleeves as I think sleeves make me look fatter as they visually extend the width of my boobs.

LittleJingleBellas · 09/12/2008 18:49

I refer you to Madonna

Agree with her. Women above a certain age should always wear sleeves, even if it is a little cap sleeve.

edam · 09/12/2008 19:39

oh, cap sleeves are the worst, even more unflattering than no sleeves at all!

Tinker · 09/12/2008 19:41

Oh god, I hate sleeveless stuff, I never wear it.

MrsMattie · 09/12/2008 19:41

I applaud Dame Mirren. Sleeves are so civilised. I bloody hate having to whack out my bingo wings every time I go on a night out.

nickytinseltimes · 09/12/2008 19:41

I detest sleeveless dresses.

I particularly despise sleeveless 'traditional' wedding meringue types. Aften worn by overweight, fake tanned WAG types. Ugly.

Not that I am generalising.

southeastastra · 09/12/2008 19:44

yes bring em back! always have to cover up arms. and it's winter

Tinker · 09/12/2008 19:44

Oh, yuk at sleeveless wedding dresses. TU A KEE

Yes.
Many otherwise lovely wedding dresses are ruined by the lack of sleeves.

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 09/12/2008 19:54

Notdoing...I bought a fabulous tattoo cover-up kit for my wedding for a tattoo on my upper arm and you honestly can't see it in any of the pics.

Ponders · 09/12/2008 19:58

I remember Carol Vorderman on Children in Need a few years back - incredibly slim, fit & toned but in a glam sleeveless dress she still had bingo wings.

Cover up, ladies.

notdoing, I see what you mean - I just looked through a big wedding dress website & of the first 100 I looked at 1 had elbow sleeves (lacy), 1 had long sleeves but looked like an M&S nightie, and 3 had matching bolero jackets; everything else was just as you describe

You'll have to postpone your hypothetical wedding until sleeves are in again. (Or get a dressmaker )

rubyslippersisappearinginpanto · 09/12/2008 20:06

amen, Helen, amen

JumpingJingleBellsDizzy · 09/12/2008 20:08

bolero with wedding dress.

My arms are ok but just 40 and I do an exercise thingy I learnt in callenetics (when I can be arsed)Really works but knacks.

HeadFairy · 09/12/2008 20:14

Dizzy, is that the one where you stand with your arms out straight to the sides and make little circles? That is agony!

JumpingJingleBellsDizzy · 09/12/2008 20:15

yes that's them, put straight arms to back, twist round then try to join the thumbs in little movements. Work though.

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 09/12/2008 20:15

Notdoing, I tried loads of kits, including the red cross one for burns victims but the only one that actually worked was this onefrom Argos.

Have put a pic on my profile, tattoo is on my left upper arm, you can't see it at all, even on the big version.
