I think we all fly way too much and am growing increasingly cross about stag weekends/shopping weekends abroad being taken as a norm.

But I'm not sure this kind of direct action is going to do anything to endear the green movement to the public.

What do you think?

Unfortunately, our government has finally (a bit too late, but still) realised something has to be done, as have many others, and the latest EU emissions bill is a very tough one - but then the Germans and the Poles water down the flipping agreements on emissions at Poznan to protect German jobs and Polish coal fired power stations and we end up with half the agreement we hoped for.

Which is why it's all the more important that we ALL do our bit. Tough but true.

The only thing that concerns me about such protests is that ordinary people are negatively affected, like the previous poster's SIL who missed a funeral due to the protests. Many places I've worked in chuck away vast amounts of paper - shop window posters, leaflets, brochures on a weekly basis without a second thought, not to mention other examples of profligacy.

It just narks me a bit to be told by my council to recyle or else pay a fine while shops and other big businesses have no obligation to whatsover IME.

But as for having the get up and go and passion to protest about something - that I can admire.
