year old boy shoots his father after vowing that the 1000th beating would be the last.

Am stunned by this. Don't even know what to think. Poor child.

oh just so i could have the pleasure of conversing with you, obviously.

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:33

Did I upset you on another thread (you aren't memorable if so) or something because you really do seem to have a bee in the bonnet for no discernable reason.

you choose to believe whatever is fed to you, i choose to reserve judgement until the facts emerge. Up to you what you believe, up to me what i believe, get over it.

LittleBella · 29/11/2008 21:33

Well you reap what you sow I suppose.

Americans often seem to use the word spanking or smacking to describe what would be illegal under English law - eg beating with an implement.

ConniesCuriousCandle · 29/11/2008 21:34

to be honest the boy sounds a bit wily and wise for his years

LittleBella · 29/11/2008 21:34

Well none of us know the details of course. But I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that a child who kills his parent, hasn't had v. good parenting.

Interesting that it was smacking by his father and stepmother. I wonder where his mother was.

I am over it, I was never on it. A child has killed their parent. That's shocking enough to be worth passing comment on. How exactly do you infer from this thread and my very short posts on this that I choose to believe whatever is fed to me?

Do you have a militant objection to the Daily Telegraph or something?

Ronaldinhio · 29/11/2008 21:36

His grandmother said that she suspected something like this might happen as the father and step mother were much too hard on the child

I don't think you need to be a genius to read between the lines from that.

1000 smacks in 8 yrs..?

IMHO
Good riddance. My sympathy lies with the child who was put in this position

LittleBella · 29/11/2008 21:38

He can't have started recording them until he was about 4.

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:38

La Vie, please explain the necessity for the personal attacks here, in proper sentences, which explain your motivation. I can't have offended you personally just by holding an opinion on this, this is hardly a contraversial topic (child kills parent = fucked up is hardly a revelation). Hence why I think this must stem from somewhere else...

In the UK the child would be below the age of criminal responsiblity. I hope for his sake its the same in the US.

I find it frightening that he had access to a gun. I don't think the responsiblity for the deaths lay with the child as much as the people who

a) abused him
b) did not look after his guns.

I hope that the boy will be found suitable foster carers and given the help he needs. Is all very sad.

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:46

No? Not going to explain. Fair enough, another addition to my MN nutters list. It grows by the day.

WinkyWinkola · 29/11/2008 21:46

"WE DON'T KNOW THE TRUTH DO WE?" but then LaVie you also say, "he was only spanked! ok if he was beaten within an inch of his life each day then yes poor boy, but he just sounds like he got a few smacks. Looks like he likes to get his own way a bit too much."

Hmm. Sounds like you already made up your mind on the basis of media reports.

Check out your own gene pool.

Ronaldinhio · 29/11/2008 21:46

Am I on it Georgi??

WinkyWinkola · 29/11/2008 21:47

Can I be on it too?

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:48

We are all balancing precariously on it according to Lavie who thinks we (or at least I) should get over it.

Don't let her bother you..it seemed obvious that she was trying to get a rise and an argument...although I'm surprised it fininshed there tbh

Oh well, she seems to have taken her meds and toddled off for an early night.

Damn. Was looking forward to LaVie's bitchfit. There's not many about on MN these days. We need Desiderata back.

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:58

I liked Desi...

I meant to provoke them.
