year old boy shoots his father after vowing that the 1000th beating would be the last.

Am stunned by this. Don't even know what to think. Poor child.

I think that I know what to think

Don't condone killing anyone but I can understand it.

Sorry, will do it the crappy way, you'll have to cut and paste

Try this

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:11

Thanks Littlefish.

I just thought what a dreadful, fucked up story. Poor poor child. What kind of life must he have had and what kind of life will he have now?

OP posts:
LaVie · 29/11/2008 21:14

he was only spanked! ok if he was beaten within an inch of his life each day then yes poor boy, but he just sounds like he got a few smacks. Looks like he likes to get his own way a bit too much.

and no, i don't agree with smacking.

Parsleypants · 29/11/2008 21:18

errr 1000 constitutes a few..? Don't condone murder obviously but think there maybe a bit more to this than a child being allowed to have his own way too much.

WinkyWinkola · 29/11/2008 21:19

"He was only spanked"

Right. You really reckon that was it, LaVie? Because 8 year olds kill over spankings.

Not that I'm condoning these killings at all but I bet there's a lot more than "spankings" behind this.

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:20

But 1000 times in eight years? I think some American's ideas of "spanking" would come under my idea of "beating". Somewhere along the line this child has gone very badly wrong either way. He's eight FFS.

OP posts:
LaVie · 29/11/2008 21:20

true, but we don't know do we. could've been child abuse, could've been a few smacks. he murdered his dad ffs, not going to be to bothered about lying is he?

WinkyWinkola · 29/11/2008 21:20

Correction. This 8 year old boy hasn't gone very wrong. His carers more than likely did very wrong by him.

JollyPirate · 29/11/2008 21:21

He's 8 folks - don't think we should be casting any stones or saying it was only a few smacks. The fact is he was fecked up enough to do this. Scary stuff.

WinkyWinkola · 29/11/2008 21:21

LaVie, you amaze me.

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:22

Well yes, he's gone wrong as a result of the "care" he has received. I would have thought it was obvious that was what I meant.

OP posts:
LaVie · 29/11/2008 21:22

no 8 year olds don't kill over spankings, that's my point! he lives in the US, has access to a gun and so uses it. not the full shilling obviously.

cue indignant rants

LaVie · 29/11/2008 21:23

why thank you

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:24

"Indignant rants"? Are you for real?

An eight year old child kills their parent because of the treatment they have received at the hands of that parent and you dismiss my concern over this as "indignant rants"! WTF? Are you on drugs or something?

tbh, if this is true and this is a case of child abuse then good riddance to the fuckers but WE DON'T KNOW THE TRUTH DO WE?

ConniesCuriousCandle · 29/11/2008 21:28

guns should be banned

georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:29

Um, yes, I am blessed with brain cells. Please explain your skepticism over this story. Are you saying that the Daily Telegraph invented this story? What exactly are you trying to say?

All I am saying is that an 8 year old is fucked up enough to murder his father and I think that is pretty shocking. Do you have some superior take on this to impart? Please let me have the benefit of your knowledge.

OP posts:
georgimama · 29/11/2008 21:30

Oh, we don't know the truth. Best lobby MN to get rid of this "in the news" section because we "don't know the truth" about anything in the media obviously. Why did you bother to post exactly?

TheLadyEvenstar · 29/11/2008 21:31

I am sorry but there has to be more than a spank involved in this. I have smacked my eldest ds when he deserved it....and before anyone jumps on me, he had got in with a bad crowd at school been very rude to me refused to eat his dinner and when i told him he had to he went to punch me....i reacted like the majority of humans and i slapped him...whether anyone agrees or disagrees. It stopped him in his tracks.

But i know he would not consider killing me because I had slapped him.

differentID · 29/11/2008 21:31

so if someone spanked your kid 1000 times you wouldn't call it abuse? I would.
