No one has to sign, but there may be a few who do. Just ignore if you don't. I don't do bulldozing around threads I don't want to participate in, I roll my eyes and keep scrolling.

Jux · 13/11/2008 22:54

Sawyer64, if you didn't want to discuss it here why did you post it? Surely there are existing threads; did you need to start another one simply because you want people to read The Sun's version and also so you not discuss it? I don't understand.

Carmenere · 13/11/2008 22:55

Well I am on this thread because I object to the tone of it. It is pathetic morbid sensationalism of a tragedy that has been harness by a trashy paper in order to sell more copies and you are their pawns. Nit-wits.

Sawyer64 · 13/11/2008 22:56

I don't need to "get over" myself thanks.

I apologise for my link, its all new to me.

Don't find anything about this case "Ridiculous".

Petitions show strength of feelings, thats all.Doesn't matter to me what paper it is.

I'll sign a million petitions if it'll help bring to light those that need to be held "Accountable" for their actions and omissions, particularly their omissions.

Unfortunately,they can't be "struck off",only sacked.

Sawyer64 · 13/11/2008 22:58

Its a Petition thats all.Not a Thread for discussion, but your right I made a mistake not putting it in "the Thread". I'm sorry for that.

I'd rather leave it to the enquiry to deal with this case and decide who may or may not have been negligent than to a bunch of Sun readers who have had the facts distorted at them by tabloids who want to sell newspapers.

None of us will ever know all the ins and outs of this case, and therefore we can't possibly decide what went wrong.

LadyOfRObamaffle · 13/11/2008 23:00

OK, so when it's toned down and in The Times we can comment. This whole thing just isn't middle class enough obviously! People need to see the bottom line, regardless of what words are used, what newspaper reports it etc. Facts are facts.

Aitch · 13/11/2008 23:00

aw man, i clicked. and now i'll have nightmares. do you really think the people involved in this were twiddling their thumbs or do you think they were hopelessly overworked and under supported in their roles?
gross thread, really gross.

oh ffs.

Yurtgirl · 13/11/2008 23:03

But The Sun doesnt report facts - it sensationalises in order to sell papers etc

Petition? What petition???? I certainly never bothered to read beyond The Sun bit at the top - I doubt it would have any credability whatsoever

Saturn74 · 13/11/2008 23:05

It would still be sensationalist, salacious and pointless if it was in The Times, or Heat, or the Bunty annual.

Pitchforkery is for fools.

lisad123 · 13/11/2008 23:05

im sure the workers involved in this case will never forgive themselves. It seems more of a witch hunt of the SW and doctor than the bloody horrible mum and people that did it.
Im sure they try as hard as they can, but unless you have been there in front line social work you have no idea!
why not spend our time asking the goverment for better support and funding for social work teams, maybe that would be better.

Jux · 13/11/2008 23:07

Ah, so it's a petition! I didn't click on the link as I assumed it was yet another article, and I didn't need to read any more. If you had said, "This is a petition asking blah blah blah, click here" then it would have been more informative, and I for one would have understood your subsequent posts.

Carmenere · 13/11/2008 23:08

Nit-wits, the system failed and witch-hunting individuals will not change the system. the system needs to change, this will not be achieved by a petition in a bottom-feeding, sensationalist rag.

2shoes · 13/11/2008 23:08

lisad123 well said

Sawyer64 · 13/11/2008 23:09

Point taken Jux,as I have previously said.

Yeah and now I know that baby Peter looks like my DS. My brain will be even more tortured now.

lisad123 · 13/11/2008 23:15

thanks, its just so hard when people dont see the full picture. Social workers cannot walk into a home and remove a child, they need legal backing and the police have to agree too. You need proof (like a doctors report) and cant remove on gut feelings, gossip or hearsay, its so much harder than you know. How many have had to take a child from its home (and trust me, no matter how hard that home life is, a child will always want a mum or dad) and explain it to a child. I have seen social workers sobbing (including me) after removal, even when you know its best.
Please lets spend time getting the goverment to listen rather than witch hunting one or two people! the system let them down, so let sort out the system.

hmm and now wonder why we are so bloody short of social workers and those that are good, leave due to stress and over worked!

Gillyan · 13/11/2008 23:22

Why does everyone get so argumentative on here?? I'm sure the last thing sawyer64 wanted to do when she posted this is for anyone to be offended.

I didn't know what to do so I paid my respects on a justice for Baby P site, I put the link on another thread but think I should leave stuff off like that in the future as I'm too emotional to get people ranting at me

Aitch · 14/11/2008 00:24

justice for baby p? wtf does that even MEAN? revenge? retribution, more like. depressing, give some money to the nspcc.

CocoaCloset · 14/11/2008 00:32

The poor boy is dead. Let's hope that lessons can be learnt to prevent future babies meeting a similar fate.

egypt · 14/11/2008 00:53

the f*in sun

does anyone not notice the inconsistency in the first 2 paragraphs - if you did open it

just shows they are full of shit or am i misreading that?

ScummyMummy · 14/11/2008 01:02

Different take.

Tortington · 14/11/2008 01:10

v. interesting scummy. i certainly have much admiration for social workers who are IME under resourced and under paid.

(plus the cord skirt thing)
