Amazing story, positive for a change - her mother must have practically lost hope.

Very odd tho that the mother can remain awaitng the results of DNA? Would think she would be on the next plane and begging to be alowed to see her thru a two way mirror? Surely she would recognise her own daughter without the DNA?

Maybe she's scared to hope after all this time. Hope it's her.

of course they're waiting for DNA tests - you wouldn't start the whole process of getting the mother on a plane unless you were sure it was her, I reckon. She's seen a video of her and is sure it's her though.

She must have hoped a little, I imagine she must feel awful right now all over again. I don't know how anyone can kidnap a child.

Such a sad story - but also very traumatic for the real mother of the little girl, she was arrested and must have been terrified too to have people saying her daughter might not be hers/DNA tests etc.

but why are they calling her 'Italy's MM' Her name is Denise Pipitone!! I wish the media would stop comparing every missing child to MM. They are different children.

I would have thought that after 4 years she would have lost some of her grasp of italian, esp as she was so young when she went missing. If you don't speak a language, even your own language, for a long time then it does deteriorate, especially when you are young.

I went to an afrikaans speaking school and although I spoke english to my parents over the phone/in the holidays, that was the only english I spoke and the rest was Afrikaans. I can honestly say that my afrikaans was far, far better than my english, although my english wasn't bad I just thought in Afrikaans etc as it had become my first language. I imagine that if I spoke no english at all it would have deteriorated signifficantly over 4 years.

I guess the parents/police thought she could have continued living in Italy after she was kidnapped, hence her still speaking italian. Very sad it isn't her though
