here

Now, I'm not a fan but I hope she makes a full recovery.

and I hope that all you who wrote this off as a publicity stunt feel thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.

Best wishes for Jade and her family. What an awful thing to happen to ANY young woman.

I for one am GLAD it has been in the press, as it gave me a good kick to go and get a smear test done. At the GP they checked when the last one was done and it was 2001. So WELL overdue. I had been putting it off, hadn't realised how long. And I am sure I am not the only one.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 12/09/2008 10:26

So sad for anyone to have to go through this

Marina · 12/09/2008 10:39

I just made that appt too torty. I'm only a year overdue but overdue nonetheless

mayorquimby · 12/09/2008 12:42

just in time for her book release as well.

tortoiseshell · 12/09/2008 13:17

well done marina! I was very when she looked at how long it was since I had one.

cupsoftea · 12/09/2008 22:41

So sad for her - hope she gets better soon - best wishes to Jade and her family xxx

TwoIfBySea · 13/09/2008 00:20

Eight hours? Surely some mistake in the time there. The operation doesn't take that long. And if people are being encouraged to come forward to have their smears done then stupid reporting of what happens if there is any cervical cancer is going to have them panicking.

Perhaps Goody should have taken a leaf out of Kylie's book and retired with dignity to fight this in peace.

expatinscotland · 13/09/2008 00:22

Wow, misdee said it took 8 hours to do a heart transplant on Peter.

My auntie had a radical hysterectomy for CINIII/cancer-in-situ and it took 2 hours.

.

expatinscotland · 13/09/2008 00:24

i can see 8 hours for a surgery like a heart transplant, that's so tricky.

ChacunaSonGout · 13/09/2008 00:29

bbc said 2-3 hours

poor jade

i

tortoiseshell · 13/09/2008 08:57

mayorquimby that is a really vile comment.

cupsoftea · 13/09/2008 09:17

some horrid remarks on this thread - she's a rl person. fwiw it's a good thing she is brave & strong enough to go public on this. It's like Kylie & breast cancer. Jade will help others to get tested & to be strong with such an experience.

tortoiseshell · 13/09/2008 10:08

I don't think she's just having a hysterectomy - it's a 'radical hysterectomy' I think, which involves taking out lymph nodes, possibly ovaries, part of the vagina as well, so probably would take significantly longer than an ordinary hysterectomy.

tortoiseshell · 13/09/2008 10:09

expat - just saw your message about your aunt - sorry to read that - hope she is making a good recovery.

TigerFeet · 13/09/2008 10:13

Isn't she with Max Clifford? If that's the case then I'm not surprised that she's splashed all over Heat magazine or whatever looking sad and scared.

I don't like her and the celebrity culture she stands for but I wouldn't wish what she's going through on anyone.

I wish her a complete and speedy recovery.

Sunnymama · 13/09/2008 19:40

I just hope for her sake that she makes a full recovery. My brother is dying from cancer right now, and I resent it being used as a 'my cancer hell'-type story. Kylie dealt with it with a lot of dignity IMO, and I'm not a big fan.

cocolepew · 13/09/2008 19:47

Not a book MQ, her new TV show is 'following her brave progress'. But there will be a book and anyone who thinks otherwise are very naive or very kind hearted. I do wish her a full recovery but I don't need to know every bloody detail.

Raahh · 13/09/2008 21:19

valerie alert!! (she was fab- gorgeous baby!)

ooh, and loved the young lad before her.

Raahh · 13/09/2008 21:19

SORRY wrong thread

Piffle · 13/09/2008 21:28

but concur rah she was good
Def had x factor

As for jade
My freiend had 12 he hysterctomy after bleeding/transfusions and complications
I thought given they said she was in icu for 24hrs it was possibly complicated...
The lass lives her life through the media
End of
No escape for her or for us
I wish her well but won't buy the mag or paper with gory details.
I preferred Kylies approach

LaVieEnRose · 13/09/2008 21:35

FFS she's having to have a hysterectomy. Who cares if it's publicised or not. Who cares abot Max Clifford etc?

She is a young woman having major surgery knowing she'll never have children again. Have a heart please.

Gunnerbean · 13/09/2008 22:09

Isn't she in intensive care following her operation? That isn't routine standard practice following a hysterectomy is it so doesn't that suggest the operation entailed a bit more than the usual standard procedure?

Why on earth are people quibbling about how long her operation took?

Maybe people don't like Jade Goody for the way she chooses to live her life and make a living but she is a young woman with two young children (just like a lot of you) who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Thankfully not too many of us have had to deal with such news and attempt to come to terms with it but she has and I can totally appreciate how utterly devastating and frightening that would be.

So what if she chooses to write a book about her cancer in due course? It's a life experience of hers and she sure isn't the first person to write a book about their life expereinces.

Some peoples' life expereinces are totally banal yet the shelves of WH Smith are full of books recounting them.

I wish Jade all the very best and hope she makes a full recovery so that she gets to see her children grow up and they get to still have their mummy in their lives.

That's all that matters now and Im sure that's all she cares about right now too.

Piffle · 13/09/2008 22:39

to be fair (and I read shite gossip mags) jade has not done loads of personal interviews
It's all friends etc
I feel for her and what she has had to endure
It's not pennance is it fgs?
