OMG! They are taking the peadophile thing a bit too far me thinks!

I don't know if this has already been done.

The Wright Stuff is on and apparently, men who are in parks are to be quizzed by passing wardens as to why they are there if they don't have a good enough reason they could be sent away or arrested if acting suspiciously!

Is it just me or is this just taking it too far?

Yet again it's men who get targetted, so if a woman is sitting in a park alone it's fine? I don't understand this!

It's getting out of hand.
I know that there are peadophiles and that we do need to be vigilant but this is crazy.

Did you hear in the news a few weeks ago about the man who was yelled at by a couple of women in a park because he was taking photos of his own children! Even when he showed them the pictures he'd taken on his camera, to prove he'd only snapped his own kids, they still called him a peadophile.

And what about men who just want to walk through or have their lunch in a park? What should they do?

Dh has lunch in a park every day in the summer - the only benches are near the play park. Maybe they need to put some more benches in a remote and undesirable spot in case he feels a need to spontaneously maturbate!

I think it is terrible I feel sorry for all the innocent men who are being targetted for just sitting somewhere it's sexist!

I was at the park with my DS a few days ago and a man asked me if he could take a picture of his son who was stadning next to him driving a play train, he said he'd try and keep my DS out of shot! I felt sorry for him can you imagining feeling as though you have to ask to take a picture of your DC doing something cute. It was two 2YO's steering a little train I want a copy LOL.

Then of course he told me it was because he had been taking a picture and a woman whos son was behind him told him that he wasn't allowed to take pictures of him and that it was disgusting 'swanning round taking pictures of children'

Its in the papers today as well, can I name and shame the park? haha

I was taking pictures of MY dd on the beach the other day and I felt guilty because it was busy and other children were running in and out of my shot all the time and I was waiting for some parent to scream at me, Im a mummy I shouldnt have to feel like that!

I think its awful, we have a country nature park near us and my dad loves walking there but probably wouldnt again if he was challanged.

It says in the paper its Telford Park in Shropshire. The councillor has said that their staff have been asked to approach adults with children using their own judgement and discretion and ask the reason for them being there.

says adults and not just men in the paper BUT its the same council who asked a women handing out leaflets in the same park on climate change if she had had a risk assessment and a police check to be in the park. That worries me more, will we have to have police checks now before we can enter the park?

Ridiculous.My younger brother suffers with depression and has used exercise as a 'treatment' for years But was questioned by police about why he was in the park in the evenings walking on his own and this really upset him and stopped him going there for his evening stroll.

Maybe they should just put a scanner for our passports at the entrance and if youa re without a child should jsut be refused entrance!

Parks are supposed to be fun next there will be barbed wire fences next to stop anyon egetting in.

Telford town park is right in the middle of town. Loads of business men use it to get from one office to another. Seems very odd.

And Im' sorry, but isn't that the point of parents being WITH their children in the park - so that they can look out for that kind of thing? I remember my parents keeping a very close eye on my brother and me when we were around a certain person who was the partner of one of their friends.

oh thats just stupid! i thought my council came up with sill ideas but that just takes the mick.

i know that peadophiles are a risk and that we have to protect the children etc but do we seriously believe that they are waiting around every corner to pounce? i thought it was just the media that thought that? not real life people.

and dont statistics show that children are more likely to be abused by family members and trusted friends than strangers? so statistically that man in the park is of no danger to anyone.
