It was a bloody Welshman

ROFL at "By about 11am, he hopes to have a beam circulating, to start a set of experiments that should reveal many of the most elusive mysteries in physics. ?Then we can all go for lunch,? he says"

Let's hope it doesn't LEEK then

MmeLindt · 10/09/2008 08:29

I have just noticed that it is near Geneva, where we are moving to next week. I wonder if it is open to the public. (If it is still there, of course)

filthymindedvixen · 10/09/2008 08:31

I am just amused by ''a few practical problems'' encountered by CERn ''but we're gonna do it anyway...''

JonesTheSteam · 10/09/2008 08:33

Have you heard him speak? His accent is the STRONGEST Welsh accent I have ever heard...

LapinOnTheEventHorizon · 10/09/2008 08:38

MmeLindt, we are ALL moving to Switzerland

MmeLindt · 10/09/2008 08:41

We can have a MN meet in Genf. You can all stay in my Atom shelter (pic on profile)

at the irony of all the Swiss having an atomic shelter and building the supercollider

OP posts:
LapinOnTheEventHorizon · 10/09/2008 08:46

LOL you really DO have a shelter! [impressed]

Ooh they must have switched it on, I just saw France go past the window...

MmeLindt · 10/09/2008 08:58

I do, I do! Complete with air filter. We have been informed that we should keep it stocked up with dry goods and water. And a radio.

DH's colleagues have told us that it great for use as a wine cellar

LapinOnTheEventHorizon · 10/09/2008 09:00

A LARGE wine cellar, I like it

Gipfeli · 10/09/2008 09:03

Am very envious of the WC in your shelter Mme Lindt, ours doesn't have one.

MmeLindt · 10/09/2008 09:09

I don't think it is plumbed in, in fact I think it is a bidet. That is the colour of lovely bathroom suite.

OP posts:
Gipfeli · 10/09/2008 09:12

Ah yes, didn't look properly. Lovely colour

MmeLindt · 10/09/2008 15:50

bump cause I just noticed Cali is online

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 10/09/2008 15:51

in a non-stalkery way

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 15:58

"MmeLindt, we are ALL moving to Switzerland" - I think your verb is wrong lapin "moving" = "sucked into"

Anyway particles won't start colliding for another month will they?

MmeLindt · 10/09/2008 16:02

By which time I will be safe in my atom bunker...

Although if it is a big black hole scenario, that is unlikely to help

Oh, well. I will just have to drink all the wine

OP posts:
Ripeberry · 10/09/2008 17:55

The Swiss will be OK. They ALL have nuclear shelters...seriously they do!

Ripeberry
I know. Look at mine (on profile)

But I am a bit worried that it will do me no good at all (other than the wine chilling) if we all disappear down a black hole.

Not so clever after all, the Swiss

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 10/09/2008 18:17

Cali
I know, there has been stuff on the TV here about the science thing, but none of the "help the sky is falling down" Eyeoreism that has gripped UK for days.

OP posts:
Donk · 10/09/2008 20:47

Don't blaspheme Eeyore - that was Chicken Licken!

pointydog · 10/09/2008 20:53

The Americans have a pre-election going on. They are even more oblivious to the rest of the world.

I'd just like to point out that near where I live there are huge big signs pointing out the way to the "Secret Nuclear Bunker"
