So, so tragic.

It's so very sad.

My heart goes out to their families. Imagine waving your daughter off on her honeymoon after celebrating her marriage, which was no doubt a wonderful day, then bringing her home in a coffin

And poor Ben's parents, having to make such a difficult decision. I wish them peace.

fedupandisolated · 04/08/2008 07:09

So so sad - what a terrible thing to happen. Tragic tragic situation.

Cannot comprehend what both families must be going through.

Appalling when they should both have their lives ahead of them.

I hope people avoid antigua for a long time it's terrible.

anotherdayyetanothernickname · 04/08/2008 14:39

Utterly tragic. I do somehow also feel it is for the best and that they can be together resting in peace now. Horrific.

I hope people don't avoid Antigua actually. It is a beautiful place and the Government needs to sort out the crime problem which has been emerging there over the last few years. Staying away will not help the people of Antigua who rely on tourism for their livelihoods.

mosschops30 · 04/08/2008 14:42

how terribly sad

sadly i thought when the doc from swansea was talking about brain stem testing that it wouldnt be long

Its nice to think that maybe she was just there waiting for him on the other side, holiding out her arms and they can finally be together forever

mammyjo · 04/08/2008 14:44

Rebelmum1, considering the spate of stabbings/shootings etc in London, would you beseech foreign tourist to stay away?

My heart goes out to the two families.

Blu · 04/08/2008 16:29

Obviously this is utterly sad and horrible - but it is the honeymoon aspect that is making it ore reported than other equally sad and horrible murders the world over - so I can see no logic in avoiding Antigua in favour of almost anwhere else.

In truth, I'm not sure how a murder can be any more horrible than another...this would have been just as tragic had it happened a year after they got married, or a year before.

edam · 04/08/2008 16:39

Terribly sad. Blu's right, it's the poignancy of them being on their honeymoon that makes this particularly newsworthy (as well as them being respectable middle class professionals, of course... always helps push a murder up the news agenda).

I had a bizarre moment with my driving instructor who got all over-excited because she'd been on holiday to that resort not that long ago - she spent a good ten minutes of my lesson drawing a diagram of the holiday villas to show me exactly where the crime had occurred and prove that it was in the villa she'd stayed in. Quite yucky.

edam · 04/08/2008 16:41

Chirpy, might actually be worth writing a note to the family c/o the hospital to share that experience with them - I know when people close to me have been bereaved that memories of the person they have lost, especially things they don't know themselves, are really important and touching. We were amazed at some of the stuff people told us about my FIL and how he'd gone out of his way to help people. Much appreciated by my MIL.

anotherdayyetanothernickname · 04/08/2008 17:27

Rebel-as it happens I AM booked to go there already and whilst I am concerned about security it won't stop me going (albeit we were/ are booked to go to a different resort).

prettybird · 04/08/2008 17:29

I agree with Blu.

The other thing that particualry poignant was that the photos of the wedding that we have all seen are photos that they themselves never got a chance to see.

Overmydeadbody · 04/08/2008 17:32

SadSad

ladymariner · 04/08/2008 17:46

Just so sad for the families, what a horrific, terrible thing to happen

And I just cannot begin to contemplate what Ben's parents are going through having made that decision, those poor people.

ChirpyGirl · 04/08/2008 20:24

Thanks edam, I was thinking of doing something like that but didn't want to seem 'grief tourist'.

Picture on front page of Swansea Evening post is on this page. It says it all.
