Cannot get this case and little Minnie Merriman out of my head.

Minnie was allegedly murdered by her dad while camping at an industrial park in Arbroath with her mum and two brothers.

The family is from Yorkshire and there is a pattern of lavish and completely unsuitable holidays and roof top wining and dining showcased on social media by Minnie’s dad with the mum nowhere to be seen other than the odd hand or side view, lots of alcohol and boasting how much things have cost with little to none interaction from any friends and family.

How they came to end up camping on the edge of an industrial site in a 2 man pop up tent which was described by witnesses as flimsy with the tragic end to a beautiful young girls life and the rest of the family taken to hospital remains to be seen.

But working in DA I feel like I can guess exactly what happened.

RIP Minnie, I’m so sorry this happened to you and to your little brothers and mum I hope they can heal and recover from the trauma and grief they have experienced.

Very sad. Poor girl. It sounds very strange. Where did you find out about the history of lavish lifestyle?

HappyAsASandboy · 09/08/2026 18:56

So very sad for the little girl and her family.

The last bit of that news story is very odd. Why did they lose their home and belongings? Unless camping is their normal home and belongings, which isn’t mentioned anywhere else.

Hi social media is very open and has been shown on various platforms.

Very strange live videos, where he lists everything expensive he is eating and drinking LOTS of alcohol and the kids always there looking absolutely miserable.

It is just awful, poor little girl. I did see a news article earlier that a family friend has started a go fund me saying that the family have lost all their belongings and their home now, which I didn’t really understand. I don’t want to speculate but I imagine an awful lot more will come out during the course of any legal proceedings.

DaisyChain505 · 09/08/2026 21:25

His Facebook is extremely random. Just scrolling back to May and they’ve been to Tarragona in Spain, Barcelona, Marrakesh, Blackpool, Leeds all in the space of less than two months.

I saw his facebook but the kids didn't look miserable, they were often smiling and laughing. Unless he has another fb account?

Thats very odd too

Just a reminder that criminal proceedings are “live” and speculation could risk prejudicing a trial.

Amberlynnswashcloth · 10/08/2026 08:39

Such odd reporting of this tragedy. Why make it public with such few details leaving everyone to do nothing but speculate?

bafta16 · 10/08/2026 08:41

If you work in DV, OP you know about boudaries and prtecting your wellbeing.

So much sadness in the world

I'm not sure it needs much speculation. "Losing their home and belongings" means they were evicted from their property and presumably the farther then started moving them around probably on prebooked holidays and in the tent so they failed to clear the property while they could.

Camping on the industrial estate means they were homeless.

Utterly tragic. Poor Minnie.

His social media is very odd. It does look like the kids have had a good time and holidays in the past few months but as to what’s really going on and what led to her tragic death

I do @bafta16 thanks for checking in on me over on the “in the news” part of the site.

It reminds me of the saying "all that glitters is not gold".

Because someone has been charged and the Contempt of Court Act 1981 has been triggered meaning nothing can be reported ahead of a trial for due to potential for prejudice.

What's the point of telling us that something awful has happened, but not telling us what then threatening us with prison if we ask any questions?

Really?

Why do you need to know?

The entitled attitude of people, I’m local to the area, is unacceptable. A child is dead ffs and people are just out there trying to find out what happened as if it is anything the fuck to do with them. As for ninewells staff taking a nosey at medical records to find out information they have no right to, I hope they get sacked asap. Vultures, every single person thinking they have the right to information.

Oh, and you do know what has happened. A child has died.

Nofeckingway · 12/08/2026 11:45

I think people speculate as to most people the idea of a father killing his child is unfathomable. I do wonder what on earth went so terribly wrong and could anything have been done to prevent it .

You don’t have to speculate. You can choose to see the tragedy alone.

It does seem to happen with high profile cases or where it’s been on the news etc, wasn’t there this issue with the little boy who was injured in the crocodile enclosure- some members of staff trying to access the records without permission or any need to.
