Cannot get this case and little Minnie Merriman out of my head.

Minnie was allegedly murdered by her dad while camping at an industrial park in Arbroath with her mum and two brothers.

The family is from Yorkshire and there is a pattern of lavish and completely unsuitable holidays and roof top wining and dining showcased on social media by Minnie’s dad with the mum nowhere to be seen other than the odd hand or side view, lots of alcohol and boasting how much things have cost with little to none interaction from any friends and family.

How they came to end up camping on the edge of an industrial site in a 2 man pop up tent which was described by witnesses as flimsy with the tragic end to a beautiful young girls life and the rest of the family taken to hospital remains to be seen.

But working in DA I feel like I can guess exactly what happened.

RIP Minnie, I’m so sorry this happened to you and to your little brothers and mum I hope they can heal and recover from the trauma and grief they have experienced.

It happens because of the way NHS handles clinical records. In essence, the computer systems allow any member of clinical staff to access anyone's records, but the system will keep a log showing who has looked. This makes sense from a patient safety perspective - if you need urgent care, you don't want the doctors to have to wait for IT to give them access to your records. However, it makes it easy for nosy staff to access records they shouldn't.

I suspect it happens a lot more than we know. With high profile cases like this, someone may take a look at the logs. Would a member of NHS staff be flagged up if they accessed my records without a good reason? I doubt it. I may be wrong, but I suspect they would only notice if I suspected something and asked them to check.

That is how it sounds isn’t it. Just shows you can never rely on SM as an accurate indicator of someone’s life

In the past when medical records were on paper people would have got away with snooping. It probably has always happened but people get found out now it's computerised

I'm surprised Minnie's dad Chris Rice's Facebook is still up. His entire personality seems to be boasting about his luxury lifestyle

I think you are confusing reporting from news sources and social media.

The actual media reports state X happened at Y. The Police have done Z, and so on and so forth.

And it’s reported because, well it’s news.

If something happened and it wasn’t reported then people would either be asking why or speculating more than they are now - for example the race of the suspect has never really had to be released by police for any other murder in this general area before now.

You know what has happened. Minnie Merriman was allegedly murdered by her father while camping at an industrial park in Arbroath. He has been arrested and charged. And no-one is threatening anyone with prison if they ask questions. You can ask anything you want. However, you won't get any answers because Minnie's father has been charged, so it is contempt of court to report anything that may result in the father not getting a fair trial. You will find out more when the case goes to trial.

Having lost what was to be my only child ,!y daughter 27 yrs,ago myself this case has really upset me too.
HOWEVER..what on earth are you doing making comments townspeople are having ' lavish & unsuitable rooftop dining with alcohol' & mum nowhere to be see,maybe just a hand.Ever occurred to you that Minnie' s mum might have been the person holding the camera ?? Maybe like me she hates having her photo taken ..How can YOU a person who knows nothing about this bereaved family ( not counting the murderer father ) how don't you know those photos are celebrating birthdays ,special occasions ..why shouldn't they have alcohol on a rooftop ..sounds lovely to me ..THEN how they've somehow come down in the world camping in a ' flimsy two man tent on the edge of an industrial estate ' ..If suggest you stop reading The Daily Mail and stop socially judging other people
Doesn't matter if you're a billionaire or in the street scrambling in the bin for food...this is a family in deep pain who were finally allowed to bring their little girl's s body home today from Scotland and a very beautiful tribute the Scottish people have her too .
Let's stop judging other people's lives..who spends/ deserves this & that..quite frankly it's NON of YOUR business not OURS
