I wouldn't give two shits if 'english' became another word for a gay woman. Because I don't have a problem with being associated with gay women. As I suggested earlier, when telling people my nationality I would simply add "as in, I'm from England" if I felt the point needed clarifying.

I wouldnt care about being associated with gay women eitehr, but I suspect I would get pretty tired of adding the extra explanation, given how often I have to explain my nationality.

You don't really get it do you? the terms Mongol and Siamese haven't fallen out of use because the people of Mongola and Thailand found it offensive to share a name with people with an extra chromosome or who were born attached to another person (and good for them!). Unlike a few bigots on Lesbos who have the utter delusion that they can erase a word that through 300 years of use all around the word has never yet become a term of abuse for people who face more than their fair share of abuse and prejudice.
