Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to sell alcohol from 10am?! WTF?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2008 22:20

thats 24 hour drinking for you.

Gobbledigook · 15/05/2008 22:22

I was totally gobsmacked tbh - all those blokes chasing the police down the road!

OP posts:
maidamess · 15/05/2008 22:22

When they all descended on that poor policeman who tripped over I felt sick. Bloody animals.

avenanap · 15/05/2008 22:23

They had a choice to drink though, a bit pathetic to blame the police or council, they didn't hold their noses and force them to get drunk. It's pathetic. Blame anyone but themselves.

Gobbledigook · 15/05/2008 22:24

Me too maidamess.

Now now, Ranger officals ahve said that it wasn't their fans, it was fans from somewhere else who joined them.
Aye right, the same fans from somewhere else who know all the songs that Rangers fans sing

lackaDAISYcal · 15/05/2008 22:28

It made me ashamed to be scottish. After all the years of a good reputation where football fans are concerned, this has taken the scottish support right back to the mid 70s

AMAZINWOMAN · 15/05/2008 22:33

I hope that all Rangers fans aren't blamed for the riots.

a major factor was that the TV screen broke down. Obviously the fans were angry, but as they had all been drinking since 10am on a sunny day (probably without eating too).

I think it could have been planned better, and i hope Rangers fans won't have too much stigma!

suwoo · 15/05/2008 22:36

My DH works in the city centre and said how appalling it was. Two incidents occurred at lunchtime yesterday to his colleagues that were awful. One girl, gorgeous and blonde had her boobs groped and the fella said "nice titties" as she walked past. The second and most heinous thing was an asian girl from his office arrived back into work in floods of tears after being the subject of a chant by about 20 men, singing "you paki bitch". How fucking awful is that- bastards!

ladymariner · 15/05/2008 22:37

Why should the tv screen breaking down cause that???? Ok, I can understand them being mightly pissed off but that doesn't give anyone the right to do that

saltire · 15/05/2008 22:38

Amazinwoman - apparently the fans were attacking the technicians sent to repair the screen and they had to get pulled out.
They get away with it because the SFA are scared of them and let them do whatever they want

ladymariner · 15/05/2008 22:41

And thanks to those creteins the big tv screen isn't going to be erected now for the Champions League Final so lots more people who were actually wanting to watch the game without getting off their faces and kicking shit out of someone will miss out.
Tossers

CombustibleLemon · 15/05/2008 22:41

I hope they're barred from European competition next year.

ladymariner · 15/05/2008 22:41

cretins

ladymariner · 15/05/2008 22:43

Do feel sorry for Walter Smith though, he's a nice bloke and doesn't deserve this.

AMAZINWOMAN · 15/05/2008 22:44

Im tired so maybe Im not explaining myself as clearly as normal!!

im not making any excuses for what happened-

its just that if rangers fans get a reputation for being hooligans, next time there will be a football match, thugs will be attracted to this match.

alcohol was the main reason for the riots

that poor bobby thank god he got away, barstards

WendyWeber · 15/05/2008 22:46

Something I read earlier said they assumed the screen had been switched off.

As if.

CombustibleLemon · 15/05/2008 22:49

No, it's the fault of phantom not-really-rangers fans, Manchester City Council, the police, the company that set up the screens and the pubs/shops for selling the alcohol.

ladymariner · 15/05/2008 22:50

How do you work that out, Combustible, how is the police's fault?? Or the council's? Or anyone other than the hooligans themselves?

CombustibleLemon · 15/05/2008 22:52

And I'm sorry but,"if rangers fans get a reputation for being hooligans, next time there will be a football match, thugs will be attracted to this match."
What were those people then? Misunderstood urchins?
