foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:28

why is it taking so long?

they only started counting the votes this morning and there was a record turnout. Will take even blardy longer if we have to go to second votes lol.

scottishmummy · 02/05/2008 22:30

well this page tessa jowellsaid on newsnight Kl has "almost certainly" not lost a ringing endorsement for KL

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:30

oh onebat, it doesn't look good. Purely for one reason - the tory strongholds normally have an excellent turn out and as this is a vote by vote contest....it really is quite tight though. I don't think anyone expected Labour to gain Brent and Harrow in the assembly vote for example though, so who knows?

Mercy · 02/05/2008 22:31

iirc RMs were mainly used for bus routes which went through central London (particularly Oxford & Regent Street) as it was thought to relieve traffic congestion to have a hop on/off service with a conductor.

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:33

7th constituency declared for mayor

west central it looks like and it's gone to...Boris

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:34

boris now on 46%, ken on 40%

crapcook · 02/05/2008 22:39

I'm really worried now.

Boris Johnson just cannot be the mayor of London. It is outrageous.

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:42

8th in for major

Lambeth and Southwark...to Ken

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:43

mayor (sigh)

haven't seen the numbers yet

so 8/14 are in. Only 6 to go.

onebatmother · 02/05/2008 22:44

bloody hell foxie you're right it doesn't look good.

They'll all be sorry. Actually, maybe they won't. People are pretty derbrainish issue-specific in these anti-political days.

WinkyWinkola · 02/05/2008 22:45

Boris will be mayor. It's amazing. In a bad way.

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:46

Boris now on 42%
Ken on 40%

Don't lose hope all your kennites!!

onebatmother · 02/05/2008 22:46

Which 6 are left, though, Foxie?

Kensington etc or places where people live?

staranise · 02/05/2008 22:47

wahay the lads!

onebatmother · 02/05/2008 22:49

go ke-en, go ke-en! Reach for the top!
Get ready, get ready, and don't ever stop!

That's not helping,is it?

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:50

left

South West
Merton and Wandsworth
Croydon and Sutton
Ealing and Hillingdon
Barnet and Camdem
and one more (who am I missing

all the suburbs - exactly where people live!

Mercy · 02/05/2008 22:51

I must get some sleep. See you all tomorrow for the post mortem.

mrsruffallo · 02/05/2008 22:51

Apparently, the ones that are left are likely to be pro Boris.
I still will not believe it until it's all over, though

citylover · 02/05/2008 22:51

Might be a bit off the wall here but I was shocked to see that the Standard was giving away free water jugs (as in Brita) with a Standard the day before the election.

Then I saw a full page spread in the same Standard (I didn't take the water jug) showing their support for Boris.

it did cross my mind that there might be a subliminal connection between giving away such an expensive free gift and suggesting people vote for Boris on the same day.

Sickening eh!!

Am gutted that he might win. Can't see what he might do for me and London.

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:52

I think 9 are in and Ken has got enfield and haringey

onebatmother · 02/05/2008 22:52

Oh fuckity fuck. I don't like the look of the list of those left at all.

They will all be tory.

Mercy · 02/05/2008 22:52

what about the other E&H ?

mrsruffallo · 02/05/2008 22:53

I don't think the suburbs should count as London

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:53

10 are in now

boris takes SOUTH WEST

boris now 43%
ken 39%

These are ALL only first preferences. If boris or ken doesn't get 50%, we have to go back to 2nd votes of the other voters.

Mercy · 02/05/2008 22:53

cross posts!

Thanks FIS.
