'Crying himself to sleep'

poor man.

the press really went all out when she died, I felt very sorry for him.

expatinscotland · 08/04/2008 16:44

'had taken cocaine and sleeping pills as well as drinking wine and vodka. '

God, WHY do people do this? Especially with a history of epilepsy?! I mean, ffs, is it that hard to have a good time without a cocktail of shit like that?

Those poor families!

How sad for them all.

edam · 08/04/2008 18:24

I stopped taking anything (ahem) recreational after I was diagnosed, expat. And was v. v. grateful that I'd never mucked around with serious stuff.

Feel very sorry for both of them.

expatinscotland · 08/04/2008 18:27

It's not something to mess around with.

Years ago, a professional American basketball player did not realise he had a heart defect.

He took coke at a party.

And died there.

It's sad they had so much going for them, both of them, but even in their thirties, there was something missing in all that they felt they needed all that shite just to 'party'.

And the consequences are even sadder.

scottishmummy · 08/04/2008 18:37

very sad, hope this has a positive outcome and that he is offered counselling and time to grieve and heal

ruty · 09/04/2008 18:53

do hope he is found safe soon.

sparkybabe · 09/04/2008 19:39

Poor Guy. No news I suppose? I do hope he's just gone to get away. I loved him on Smart - and wasn't he Max Headroom? Funny guy and so talented. ( and hot too!)

Monkeytrousers · 10/04/2008 21:07

If they don;t have kids Expat they make their own rules. They would have known abou the risks.

I hope they aren't demonised for it anyway or thought that they somehow deserved it.

allgonebellyup · 11/04/2008 10:21

he's not come back/been found yet then?

AnAngelWithin · 11/04/2008 11:41

no. he was last seen getting on a train. police spoke to him earlier and he was 'distracted and deep in though and saying that he needed to leave' news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7337977.stm

Sobernow - who he? Not exactly a household name! Funny tho.

SorenLorensen · 11/04/2008 19:30

It's all very sad. I hope he turns up safe and well.

southeastastra · 11/04/2008 19:32

it is sad, i always really liked him as a presenter

Macdog · 11/04/2008 19:54

Mark played a Max Headroom type character on 'Sparky & Co' years ago

So sad there is still no news

LIZS · 11/04/2008 20:02

yes he had a young sidekick

SorenLorensen · 11/04/2008 20:05

I suspect this comment is rather flippant (disclaimer: am on 2nd glass of wine) but what is SmArt going to do without him (he's quit)? He's the only one who can draw.

Macdog · 11/04/2008 20:13

To answer the flippant comment (cos I'll be opening my wine in a bit):
As long as Bizi Lizzie doesn't get star billing, I don't mind

expatinscotland · 11/04/2008 20:13

no one is saying they did deserve it, MT.

but even without kids, man, that's still sad to have to get off on that shit, especially given her medical history. it's sad.

it's not looking good.

hopefully he'll turn up soon.

his poor family must be going out of their judgment with worry.

allgonebellyup · 12/04/2008 21:38

stop judging someone just cos they take coke

tissy · 12/04/2008 21:47

agbu, calling it "coke" makes it sound almost ok..... it's not, it's a dangerous drug. Till now, I didn't know Natasha Collins was epileptic, I wish she had not been so foolish as to use drugs and alcohol on top of that diagnosis; she might still be alive.

I wouldn't wish this situation on anyone, but if reading about it makes one person reconsider, then a good thing has happened.

expatinscotland · 12/04/2008 21:50

i'll do that why you stop dictating to me what to post.

doing that whilst you know you have epilespy is FOOLISH in the extreme. and this poor lady paid the price for that and so did he.

don't get me started on how i feel about htis so-called recreational drug after living in S. America, including Columbia, for years.

because it is SHIT and Natasha is one of tens of thousands who have paid for it with their lives.

WendyWeber · 12/04/2008 21:51

Bizi Lizi is running a kids' painting studio in Lancashire these days so she's prob desperate for a job.

I am v sad about Mark Speight. The circumstances of his disappearance don't sound very hopeful.

allgonebellyup · 12/04/2008 21:53

obviously the epilepsy was a worry, and she was a stupid girl to take it with that condition.

but surely its up to people what they do with their own free time? im not saying its a brill thing to do, just dont tar everyone with the same "oh no, not drugs" brush.
