Shannon Matthews Mother arrested !!!!!

kay1981 · 07/04/2008 09:22

They have arrested her on perverting the course of justice - which i think means lying to the police under oath doesnt it?

Is it at all possible that they knew where she was all the time?

Perhaps cahnnel 4 should now re-show the documentary on shannons family and see how it is received knowing what we know.

policywonk, i couldn't agree more.

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY

No matter how much we may disapporve of her liifestyle, or life choices, the whole point of a legal system, is that the CPS have to prove she did it.

Imagine if Shannon had been abducted, nd harmed, or killed, or never found. Would we be so quick to pitchfork her for her life choices?

the McCanns made a terrible choice, and lost a child. They live with that for the rest of thier lives. Something fairly awflu has happened in the Matthews' household (although we don't REALLY know what yet) but Shannon is still alive, and apparently unhurt.KM APPEARS to have made a terrible choice. Hopefully she can make amends for it, and learn by her msitake. The MCCanns will never have that luxory.

policywonk · 10/04/2008 14:30

OK... (cautiously)...

so

You don't know her
You don't believe everything you read in the papers

What's your reason then?

CoteDAzur · 10/04/2008 17:45

The charges were described in court as "[you] repeatedly concealed information in relation to the whereabouts of Shannon Matthews" and "wilfully neglected or abandoned the said child".

I don't believe everything I read in the papers, but I do believe a quote in the Telegraph.

matildax · 10/04/2008 17:46

exactly policywonk, it is what i was saying earlier on this thread.
it is unbelievable the witch hunt that is going on here, yes her life choices seem rather weird, and the care of her children is suspect, but as sagpuss said IF shannon had not been found, would we all be so quick to condemn her, because of this???
just a thought.

chocfest · 10/04/2008 18:12

Hi policywonk

my reason for disliking KM are many, which I have already mentioned too often in this thread and the other one about 'whether you feel sorry for km.'

~There is no smoke without fire, and we shall now just have to watch, and wait for her conviction, as that is what it will be without a shadow of a doubt.

edam · 10/04/2008 18:18

Ho ho, have only just seen Cote's rhetorical flourish at me 'do you really need to be told everything by the media?'. And Jeremy Vile's response.

Cote, you claim you are using your brain... all I'm saying is base any judgments you want to make on the facts. Anything else is prurient speculation. You clearly don't have a hotline to the detective in charge and neither do I - all we can go on are the facts that have been reported. Using our brains (since you mention them) to distinguish between opinion and fact. Could you do that for me, love? (copyright: Claire Rayner)

lol chocfest I'll be your cheerleader to balance the sides .

Umlike the Mcaan case ( where I hated the condemnation of innocent suffering people) this case has FACTS that ARE already out there. If you list them, they clearly infer a dysfunctional family and a poor standard of upbringing. This has nothing to do with class.

MicrowaveOnly · 10/04/2008 18:43

Sorry, should have added that infer means ... To reason from circumstance; surmise.

Logical reasoning looking at her circumstances leads to the inference of as I said a poor standard of upbringing for her children.

Why pretend it is not so?

edam · 10/04/2008 18:56

Um, Piffle, do you mind if I put you down for a moment, only my side is going all numb...

chocfest · 10/04/2008 18:59

This quote from the other thread just about sums up what I personally think of km

'This woman who has shat upon her children, her family, her friends who spent days distributing leaflets, organising and joining in searches, cared for the remaining children whilst they were being interviewed by police, the police and specialist services involved, the little schoolfriends of shannon who were crying and terrified because she was missing, when all along she allowed this to continue, seeing the terror inflicted upon the neighbourhood, not allowing their children out to play for fear of some predator on the loose?

She, for her own selfish ends, allowed this to continue, knowing what it was doing to everyone involved, should have any sympathy? I think not.'

lol microwave

chocfest · 10/04/2008 19:00

that was my own quote btw.

2shoes · 10/04/2008 19:07

you need to get a life

chocfest · 10/04/2008 19:14

what is that awful smell arrived on the post

kneedeepinthedirtylaundry · 10/04/2008 19:19

Haven't really much at all of this thread, so perhaps this has already been covered, but whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Shouldn't we wait before we launch our attacks?

I only get to watch the crappy bbc news at 10, and don't see why they have to make a point of how many fathers Karen Matthews has had children with. What's it got to do with this case? I think they're just trying to point out that she's a chav.

shrinkingsagpuss · 10/04/2008 19:25

There are "facts" available for almost every court case going on at the moment - but not ALL the "FACTS", such as extentuating circumstances, or mental health issues, or domestic violence isues etc.... We have heard the "facts"| against KM, but w haven't heard her tell her veriosn, and we really really don't knw the whole story no matter how bloody clever we are.

God isn't easy to judge someone so obviously lacking in parenting skills.

She is an easy target.

shrinkingsagpuss · 10/04/2008 19:25

sorry, that shoul say "God ISN"T it easy...."

chocfest · 10/04/2008 19:27

'someone so lacking in parenting skills'
quote by shrinking

now whose judging too?

shrinkingsagpuss · 10/04/2008 19:29

. touche. mouth ran away with me then.

....

are we nearly at 1000 yet?

chocfest · 10/04/2008 19:30

its ok cos you may have 'problems' that led you to say that

must be almost on 1000, shall leave the rest to someone else!

JeremyVile · 10/04/2008 19:31

Chocfest - why do you NEED to do this, to keep being so vitriolic?

Does it make you feel good? A bit better about yourself?

KM has done whatever she has done and there will be a tril and she will be dealt with accordingly.

Why the need to keep on about how shit you think she is?

Piffle · 10/04/2008 19:58

Oh Edam! Jeremy Vile is an add on ...
I need not post, when other such sensible and rational women post it far better than I could...

immaculateconception · 10/04/2008 20:00

I would really like this to stop now. Chocfest, you have had plenty to say about Karen, but please stop. Its not nice. Yes, Karen has done wrong and she will now be paying for it. It needs to be left alone now and let the trial go ahead, like I have said already "the truth will out"

CoteDAzur · 10/04/2008 20:19

edam - My understanding that KM was on benefits is not a moral judgement but reasoning based on the available facts (which I mentioned before and you conveniently ignored).

By the way, your condescending attitude is not helping, and I am not your "love".
