They have arrested her on perverting the course of justice - which i think means lying to the police under oath doesnt it?

Is it at all possible that they knew where she was all the time?

Perhaps cahnnel 4 should now re-show the documentary on shannons family and see how it is received knowing what we know.

then you must be a DM reading bigot Diva to construe that kind of information from an message on an internet forum

or you have such amazing powers of insight that you are an undiscovered talent.

as for your first comment asking WHY - it is because the people that matter (the children) have to put up with the life they are given and we have no knowledge yet of the effects it has long term

Desiderata - Who implied "that a recipient of family tax credits is in some way more likely to abuse their children"?

I thought the criticism was that she kept on making babies although she was on benefits (i.e. knowing she would be able to support them).

CoteDAzur · 10/04/2008 12:36

madamez - re "is it only OK to have religious/superstitious/personal objections to contraception/abortion if you are wealthy or married?"

A better way of putting it is that it is only OK to make one baby after another if you can financially provide for them.

I know many people who would like another child but are waiting until they are in better financial position. It is just not OK to breed like rabbits and expect others to pay up to support your offspring.

It is also a good idea to wait until you are reasonably sure that the relationship will last to have a baby (not necessarily 'married'). Which is what KM obviously has NOT done, given the very small age gap between her children with different fathers.

(A for effort, though.)

{peels head off brick wall for a moment to utter]
The hosue has just been boarded up as theya re worried about vigilantism.
Remanded in custody for her own safety I see.
As much of an indictment on society as on her IMO

CoteDAzur · 10/04/2008 12:46

edam - I am 'speculating', if that is what you call looking at numerical data and making inferences using my brain.

Do you really need to be told everything by the media? If so, continue to believe this big family of hers was being supported by her young boyfriend's efforts in the fish market.

I am not telling you what to think or say. A practice you might like to emulate.

To EDAM

There is alot more to this still to come out according to a post on another thread, about whether you feel sorry for KM.

Apparently, Shannon is now happy where she is, and has her own toothbrush for the first time ever, after apparetnly being bullied at school about her teeth. This is from a wife of a policeman on the case.

What sort of mother wouldn't give her child a toothbrush FGS?

More to the point - What sort of policemans wife would blab shit like that to the press??

chocfest · 10/04/2008 13:00

is MN the press then JV?

Thats right Trolley, of course it doesnt make her a bad mum not to do something that alleviates the bullying at school.

chocfest · 10/04/2008 13:00

a couple of quid off the beer fund would have been nice.

CoteDAzur · 10/04/2008 13:04

Piffle - From what I read, KM's neighbours are a little bit angry at her for having played them like fools & made them run around looking for her daughter they thought was missing.

One woman was daring her to show up her face in their "hard and unforgiving estate" again, saying she gave up work to look for Shannon.

policywonk · 10/04/2008 13:05

Yes quite JV, it was reassuring to see the police fulfilling their usual role of providing juicy, unsubstaniated, prejudicial crappy gossip.

JeremyVile · 10/04/2008 13:07

"is MN the press then JV?"

Eh? Do you mean the Policemans wife is an MNer and said it on here? (I didn't see the post in question)

CoteDAzur · 10/04/2008 13:08

Nothing will surprise me on this thread, after having seen "Faking your own daughter's abduction doesn't make you a bad mother".

TheFallenMadonna · 10/04/2008 13:08

I was reading the story in the Times this morning, and it mentioned her other children and then, in brackets (by five fathers).

Quite apart from the relevance to the story (low), is there anyone who is unaware of this fact by now?

policywonk · 10/04/2008 13:09

Yes JV, the policeman's wife posted on the other thread. She seemed to think we'd be grateful for the 'information'.

JeremyVile · 10/04/2008 13:12

Oh gosh - well I spose she will have made some peoples day.

JeremyVile · 10/04/2008 13:12

Peoples day?
Peoples days?

PW - pedanify please....

JeremyVile · 10/04/2008 13:13

Oh good god...

chocfest · 10/04/2008 13:13

pedantify JV

Monkeybird · 10/04/2008 13:13

policywonk · 10/04/2008 13:14

Peoples' day
