Mumsnet in the Times

Here's a nice article about Mumsnet - make way for the newbies.

And blimey don't Justine and Carrie have a lot of children?

OP posts:

No-one bundle. It can't be registered, so because I deleted it's gone (or not- will maybe contact tech). My registration is weird now anyway because when I signed back in I was still very cross indeed and intended to just post occasionally on a few topics so I made up my name and area but of course within a week was sucked back in (cue dh muttering at me).

yurt1 · 16/03/2008 21:29

aloha is very happy though. I envy her ability to stay off. Thought Enid had cracked it but I see not

bundle · 16/03/2008 21:30

yurt

bundle · 16/03/2008 21:31

how's her ds yurt? is she having any more joy with teh school?

yurt1 · 16/03/2008 21:31

Things do sound better.

soapbox · 16/03/2008 21:36

VVVQV - I have never said in any of my posts that I had any problem at all with those who were chosen. In fact, I think you will find almost every post on here from me is positive towards the article - and that as far as I am concerned that having done the Christmas thing in 2006 was no qualification at all.

All I did was to say that if CM had decided to list out the MN elders then here are some names that would surely have been included.

For you to single out my posts as having in someways been anti the article, is a gross misreprentation of my position!

I am far from a regular poster on here and have no problem at all acknowledging that!

Prufrock · 16/03/2008 21:36

www - I think the problem is that you are a regular in the old sense (come on for an hour or so, read a bit, enter intelligent debate) rather than the new sense (live here). Would you like fries with your big mac .

soapbox · 16/03/2008 21:38

Pru - seeing you posting on here again recently has given me enormous pleasure and brought home to me how much I missed seeing you around

soapbox · 16/03/2008 21:40

And of course, I have spent the last day and a bit, cursing myself every time I saw a name which should have been on the list!

I mean how could I have forgotten, Beety, Enid, KatieRocket, Foxy ...

I'll be back again later for the next guilt ridden post

soapbox · 16/03/2008 21:43

And countessdracula[guilty, guilty guilty}...

VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2008 21:47

I can't believe Hunker left without a flounce thread!
Dayum.

FWIW, I probably would've chosen the same four posters if I had done a list (And lulumama/tiktok) not because they are 'slebs' or w/e but because they have a forte in a certain subject, subjects I happen to be interested in.

Well, except Cod she just gets me in to trouble with her games.

WendyWeber · 16/03/2008 21:48

Soapy, you missed me too

soapbox · 16/03/2008 21:49

And in the interests of transparency - Lulumama, hasn't made it onto the elders list (well at least my version of it) as she is much to young to be saddled with that title

soapbox · 16/03/2008 21:49

And Wendy weber of course...

Did anyone say that lists are a bad idea

WendyWeber · 16/03/2008 21:50

Noo, nobody said that, did they?

Boco · 16/03/2008 21:54

See Soapy, that's why telling CM that she should have included your list doesn't really work, there are SO many aren't there! She'd get to 30, there'd still be some lovely people left off - what does it prove? What would a list of 257 screen names mean to someone reading it?

Aitch · 16/03/2008 21:57

popped back to have a look, not sure how to respond to prufrock's post except to say that if i've understood it right i personally find it hurtful.

and PMSL (albeit ruefully) at soapy making up a list and forgetting all her elderly mates... not so easy is it?

there's not enough room in the sidebar for 50 names, soapy, so just choose 5 and make sure they represent every mner's tribal elders or they're entitled to go for the throat. your throat and the 5 you choose. so long as you're happy with that.

Cam · 16/03/2008 21:57

CM could write a whole series , introducing the Times-reading public to a new bunch every week

expatinscotland · 16/03/2008 21:58

Cool, Aitch is back.

VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2008 21:58

Tell you what ladies, submiot me your lists and I'll namedrop every MNer in the documentary thingy, but seemingly during conversation.

expatinscotland · 16/03/2008 21:58

Am going to bed before the ice cream comes up.

soapbox · 16/03/2008 21:59

Indeed Aitch

SleepIsForTheWeak · 16/03/2008 22:00

ah the article makes me proud!
Well done, girls!

Aitch · 16/03/2008 22:00

night expat, have a wonderful time. enjoy your shoes. (must get back to work)

Boco · 16/03/2008 22:00

A weekly column covering say, ten a week would be the way to go. But would have to be in alphabetical order to avoid upset. Would take roughly 15 years to complete the series.
