Sorry but had to write as feeling so sad for poor little baby Jessica who was murdered by her father. Just heard about it on the news; about how she was failed by doctors/social services etc. She was only 7 weeks old. How can anyone be so evil and how did no one notice??

I believe that recently they have set up ISA but only in some areas and on a trial basis. This allows information to be freely exchanged between agencies, but it requires prior consent from the parents.

There are many data protection reasons for why this is not common practice.

bossybritches · 15/02/2008 19:24

There are many areas where consent is a good thing to have but I think the safety of a child outweighs the data protection act & if anyone broke it I defy anyone to criticise if it saves one Jessica,

As far as I know if you have reason to believe a child is at risk,as a HCP you have the right to NOT inform the parents/carers IF you think that by doing so it might put the child in further danger or continued risk of harm.

I think that childrens rights to feel safe and the safety of children should come before any data protection act and hv,ss,gp,a&e departments and anyone else who has contact with the child that is potentially at risk should work together and pass information on to each other..we need to stop these awful things happening and i believe that sentences far to lenient for these bastards(sorry about the language) and why oh why does the government keep letting, perverts and child killers out of prison..they have already done it and likely to do so again and they have either ruined a childs life or taken it away, why should they be allowed to have a life. Human rights don't come into it when they have acted like barbarians..was going to say animals, thats unkind to animals!! The minute they do these evil crimes they lose any human right they had!! Government have already said that they can't guarantee that they won't do it again or that they can stop them so they should be executed, 1 to save money(i don't want to keep them), 2 free up prison space, 3 to save other children and 4 for some kind of justice!! Why oh why do we put their rights above that of the welfare of our children!!

I read about her yesterday in the local papers. And had mixed feelings at reading it all...but yes, it shouldn't have happened, and there were strong markers that something might be wrong.
I suppose the bit where I object too is, the whole, oh teh midwifes noticed that mum and dad weren't bonding with the Baby...which, I would think, can be a very normal reaction to prem Birth/traumatic Birth and stressful homelife anyway...but of course, with all the ohter issues, it is quite amazing the little Baby girl was not closer observed, etc...!
I am glad that her fatehr got life sentence, and I hope he truely serves the full time (which is to short anyway...)

Disgusting.... my blood ran cold when I heard it on the news. I'd tear him apart with my bare hands .

I hope he gets hell in prison - he deserves.

Poor little Jessica .

The worst of it is, there'll be another one. There always is .
