marina · 05/02/2008 22:26

And curiously that much-used photo does not come up when you search Google images emma

WendyWeber · 05/02/2008 22:54

That was £300K altogether though - not pa (I wonder how much that was per shag?)

It was £35-40K pa (plus bonuses )

tiredemma · 05/02/2008 22:56

Found it!

took ages but I found the nobbers

WendyWeber · 05/02/2008 23:00

Oh Emma, you star!

(They cut the daughter out of the pic in the Mail - presumably she didn't dirty her hands, poor girl)

tiredemma · 05/02/2008 23:13

The pic is bad, but that write up in the Telegraph is hilarious.

WendyWeber · 05/02/2008 23:26

It's by Jasper Gerard, who you'd think would be another Sloane Ranger but bugger me, he's a Guardian writer (what's he doing slagging off a Tory in the Torygraph? )

marina · 06/02/2008 09:51

When the Torygraph turns on its readership the results are not pretty
I thought that article was fantastic too WW - but you know, the features in the paper are good and you can always enjoy a good Hate at the political columnists ...Know Thine Enemy and all that
I think the DT is overall the best of a dodgy bunch of broadsheets and I have never voted for Them in my life (used to like the Indie until so many of its best writers were laid off, still catch up with the peerless Robert Fisk online)

WendyWeber · 06/02/2008 11:36

Oh, I do read it, marina - I don't buy it (we only ever buy the Saturday Guardian) but it's one of my favourites on the internet in quiet spells at work There is some great reading in it.

Kevlarhead · 07/02/2008 19:26

It seems the head of some charity has got quite cross over the way the press have been cruel to poor Henry Conway, and written a letter to the Guardian

Apparently we're all to stop being beastly to him, as he's a very talented young chap, who's done lots to publicise the history of knitwear in this country, and the whole 'Queen Sloane' thing, and all the 'Fuck you I'm Rich' parties are sooooooooooooo ironic. Don't you proles get it?

Seems to be that if a chap spent his time at uni being the benificiary of embezzlement, but in a knowing, ironic manner, that's all okay, and big joke on the bean counters who get all annoyed about this sort of thing. Yeah?

marina · 07/02/2008 19:38

Oh how vexing kevlarhead, that is actually a smashing little charity - very happy memories of delicious lunch at Dimbola when v. pg with ds
But as a keen knitter I am blissfully unaware of Henry's magnum opus on the subject and plan to remain so
