Black schoolgirl strip searched by police at school

I saw this news article this morning and I'm so cross.

A black schoolgirl was strip searched by police while on her period after being wrongly suspected of carrying cannabis.

The “traumatic” search by Metropolitan Police officers took place at the girl’s school without another adult present and in the knowledge that she was menstruating, a safeguarding report found.

This poor girl will be scarred for life. Regardless of whether she had cannabis on her or not (none was found and no evidence apart from a "smell"!) It is completely unacceptable to degrade a child in this way, in what should be a safe place for her, without even calling her parents. The report found that racism was an influencing factor and I believe that to be 100% true. Even back when I was at school I noticed the subtle differences in how I, a white British child, was treated compared to my black peers.

The police and school staff are supposed to be protectors, people children can trust. How something like this was allowed to happen is disgusting.

I read the same thing and like you I'm so angry for this girl. What were the school thinking to allow the police to take her on her own, and to not call her family or ensure she was properly supervised?

And as for the police, I hope heads roll for this. It was in a school, they can hardly claim they didn't know she was a child.

There's already a thread on this OP with quite a few replies. Not being rude but pointing out as you may get less on yours as a result!

Thanks @Useranon1 I did look for one but couldn't see any! Would you be able to link for me?
