Why?
Why so many 'celebrities' and sportsmen 'honoured' in this way?

They're doing a job most would give their eye teeth to do, they're getting rewarded handsomely, they get pampered and feted at every turn and now this?

Honours for being famous

Imvho honours should go only to the unknown thousands of people who work tirelessly and with little reward (in monetary terms) to help and assist others.

So there.
Bah humbug!

Judi Dench is a Dame and, well, "all she's done is acted in some plays and films"...

There are always actors, writers and other arty types in the list. Talent/celebrity is honoured. Where do you draw the line?

(At Russell Brand I sincerely hope but ykwim)

Jaqueline Wilson deserves it, she's the Children's Laureate and has been churning out 2 books a year for ages, isn't she the best-selling children's author in the country?

June Sarpong however....

apart from maybe JK Potter
