Oh shit. Can barely imagine the sort of trouble this will cause.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 27/12/2007 20:59

omg i am so gutted and moved to tears by this - too sad but seemingly inevitable

MariNativityPlay · 27/12/2007 21:03

Donnie, I agree it has to be Taleban, surely not Musharref
Was in Marks and Spencer at the sales of all bloody inappropriate locations when I saw this news come up
Devastating for Pakistan, the world and her family. Am so sad today

margoandjerry · 27/12/2007 21:03

Terrible. It's hard to contemplate what might happen next. I thought she was incredibly brave to go back .... her death seemed inevitable.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 27/12/2007 21:52

Awful news. On a day of awful news it seems.

The stupid bastards havent helped their cause at all by killing her. They've just made her a martyr now. She'll be held in even higher regard (and rightly so). She was a brave woman to continue to fight for what she thought was right for her country (and not just for herself).

Aitch · 27/12/2007 22:36

it's awful, just terrible. to go back after her dad and brothers. i remember hearing imran khan on the news when they took the judges and lawyers in, he seemed genuinely frightened. not a fan of his but the whole place seems to be on the edge.
it's amazing, the pakistanis i know here are so ordinary (for which read i would assume democratically-minded) it seems crazy that their relations in Pakistan don't have a stable govt and safe elections.

Leochristmaspuddingbelly · 27/12/2007 22:37

Its shocking and terrible. A great woman, what a terrible, terrible sad waste. Also a very close family how sad for them.

But why oh why did she stick her head out of the car??????

What does this mean now for Pakistan and the region now????

eidsvold · 27/12/2007 22:37

according to the news - she was shot first as she stood up out of the sunroof to wave on leaving a political rally. The assassin then blew himself up.

terrible - I got up to put tv on for the monkeys and sat just to see the news - that was the first thing we saw.

Skimty · 27/12/2007 22:38

Just terrible. Realy shocked and sad

noddyholder · 27/12/2007 22:40
Sad
wotz · 27/12/2007 22:40

what a world, so sad.

WendyWeber · 27/12/2007 22:44

I read something earlier, can't remember where now, which said she felt attempts on her life would most likely come from the Taleban (Afghanistan or Pakistan) or Al-Qaeda - not Musharraf.

serinsingingcarols · 27/12/2007 23:20

Moved to tears, the world is worse without her.

mumsville · 27/12/2007 23:33

She was a heroine of mine.

I feel for her family and her people.

Quite some woman.

expatinscotland · 27/12/2007 23:33

I still can't believe it's true.

suedonim · 27/12/2007 23:39

It's hard to believe Benazir Bhutto is no longer here, with her voice of reason. She has three children as well.

mylittlepudding · 28/12/2007 14:40

So sad. What an amazing woman. So very sad about this today.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 28/12/2007 17:44

They are saying she died due to a blow to the head when she hit the sun roof - not a bullet. Do they mean she was shot, fell and banged her head or she was getting back in the car and hit her head and the shots and bomb were afterwards?

lou33 · 28/12/2007 19:08

i think i heard on the radio that she was ducking to avoid gunshot

ruty · 29/12/2007 09:24

they said no bullet was found in her body. I find it rather hard to believe tbh, that she ducked and banged her head hard enough to kill her. I wonder if it is political damage limitation.

TheIceQueen · 30/12/2007 09:34

Well the lastest video realeased shows someone pointing a gun towards her, she disappears into the car BEFORE the bomb went off...........so I think the "government" line doesn't really hold up too well......

lapiNewYear · 30/12/2007 10:00

I think they are trying to diminish her death in some way. "Died whacking her head on the sunroof" is not as historically resonant as "murdered by an assassin's bullet", is it.

AnneMayesR · 30/12/2007 10:03

If Pakistan descends into civil war and the fanatics get control they will have all those nukes. I am sure India will invade just to be safe.

At the very least I think we are looking at nuclear war in that region. Terrorists with nukes etc..

This is bad.

ruty · 30/12/2007 13:10

oh god help us.
