Idiot Gets Mauled By Tiger In Front Of Family

EricScrooge · 20/12/2007 23:53

This is from the Sun website (i know - shut it) and is VERY graphic colour photo so don't click if you are squeamish about blood.

What i find horrific (apart from putting a limb through a cage and being in front of your family) is the fact that it took 30 mins to get the tigers away.

That's 30 minutes of a tiger chewing on you.

What a horrible way to die.

It's just so unbelieveable that i had to share.

Again - please don't click on link if you don't like blood or distressing stories.

um... isn't it a park?

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 21/12/2007 16:31

Yes but it is a big park

With a zoo in it

SquonkaClaus · 21/12/2007 16:31

(don't mean that to sound sarcastic btw... tis a genuine question)

SquonkaClaus · 21/12/2007 16:31

ah ha! a big park
I see.

TwoIfBySanta · 21/12/2007 21:58

Poor bloke? Poor tiger more like it!

The tiger only did what nature intends it to do. More fool the idiot who tempts it.

Perhaps the photo will prevent any other numpties from trying to do something so insanely foolish.

Gods way of eking out the stupid as the saying goes.

Quick question, I don't want to open the link. Where did this happen?

amytheearwaxbanisher · 21/12/2007 22:17

dont wish to speak ill of the man but putting your hand in a tiger cage is obviously a bad idea, really hope his kids diddnt witness itthough the zoo really should have glass before the bars in case i child did the same thing not knowing any better

bookofchristmascarolsmum · 21/12/2007 22:19

Someone didn't read "Albert and the Lion" as a child then .

Pretty stupid behaviour to do that - tigers aren't like big stripey pussy cats! but what a horrible way to die. I'm not looking at the pics. You can't blame the tiger for doing what comes naturally.

Usually, the "big cat" enclosures are set back from railings by several feet - or the zoos I've been in have. There's a secondary set of railings or glass where the public can stand then a gap before the enclosure proper starts.

I dislike the concept of a zoo anyway but that's beside the point.

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 21/12/2007 23:39

Actually, it is obviously a crap zoo as well, that railing is obviously inadequate.

TheQueenSPeach · 21/12/2007 23:49

But where did it happen?

Am not opening link.

amytheearwaxbanisher · 21/12/2007 23:51

india

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 21/12/2007 23:53

in india which is proabably why for some odd reason it's thought ok to print it

it's jaguars who bite through the head, all other big cats go for the back of the neck - either way a much better way to go than this

would not mind being food for an endangered species in the wild

anyway just had to find out about that as it was annoying me

VeVacuaMerryChristmas · 22/12/2007 12:05

don't see what's not to like about the concept of zoos generally though, they provide such important educative and conservation type services in a world where natural habitats of so many species are disappearing - it's sad that we need them but thank goodness we do

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 22/12/2007 12:14

He would not qualify for the Darwin award as you have to remove yourself from the gene pool. Since he has a child already, he cannot do this.
Awful tragedy, my heart goes out to his wife and kids.
Can't help but feel that the Sun would not have printed that pic if it featured a UK national. Does it matter less because it happened elsewhere in the UK.

bookofchristmascarolsmum · 22/12/2007 15:17

I just don't like zoos and I find going around them tiresome. I agree the education/conservation work is important but so many zoos have been badly run and the welfare of the animals doesn't seem paramount. This man would should never have been allowed to get as near to the enclosrue as he did.

I don't agree with animals being shipped around the world to mate to propogate the species into more captivity either.

jellybeans · 30/12/2007 15:42

Poor bloke, he was stupid to do it but still not a nice fate is it. Saw that pic on another online news site too, very yuck but may put others off and make them think so may be an idea to show it.
