I was working at wimbledon common that day. There were police everywhere and we thought they were filming an episode of the bill We used to love to eat our lunch on the common and this really freaked us all.I hope they get someone for this it was horrific

jangly · 28/11/2007 16:17

Lets hope they've got the right one this time.

Desiderata · 28/11/2007 16:18

This was in the Telegraph a couple of weeks ago. The man they've arrested is already serving life in Broadmoor for the similar murder of a young mum when her child was present. This was inside her own home.

jangly · 28/11/2007 16:20

It was horrific. That poor little boy, to witness that. (Poor Rachel, too).

ScoobyDoo · 28/11/2007 16:21

Ah sorry the info is there now.

It is awful a very horrific crime & i hope they have the man who done it, the right one

Mercy · 28/11/2007 16:21

Christ he really is a piece of nastiness. Hope they DON'T put him in solitary for his own protection.

Bouncingturtle · 28/11/2007 17:03

They've charged him here

Hope he rots in hell the sicko.

Desiderata · 28/11/2007 17:07

Napper's in Broadmoor, a hospital not a prison. It's highly unlikely that he'll be convicted of murder, as he will be deemed criminally insane. He'll just continue to rot in Broadmoor until he dies.

Apparently, new DNA evidence cites that there is only a one if fifty million chance the perpetrator isn't him.

It will, however, afford poor Colin Stagg some peace of mind. As for Rachael's husband and son, I doubt that anything will restore them.

KittyLetteItBe · 28/11/2007 17:12

my gos that made me feel sick, im crying, that poor 2 year old.

Bastard, i hope he fu**ing rots :

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 28/11/2007 17:28

Ditto re poor Colin Stagg, well said Desi.
Even after he was acquitted, we received a note in the childrens' school bag saying 'the man who as suspected of killing Rachel Nickell has bee seen on sheen Common' (near school), and I was bloody FURIOUS that he was STILL going by that sobriquet when the man had been acquitted and the police had fitted him up thru' entrapment.
Any loner seems to be fair game even now -Look at what happened to Robert Murat!

JinglyJangly · 28/11/2007 18:14

Yes Colin Stagg was a strange one but what the police done to try and get him to confess was disgusting.

Can you imagine how he has been feeling the last 15 years knowing Rachel's killer was still at large and although aquitted people still pointed the finger.

edam · 28/11/2007 18:24

the police didn't just fit him up, after the case had been thrown out they continued to tell everyone he'd done it. They blackened his name for years.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 28/11/2007 18:25

I was working as a live in mother's help at the time within the area and it was very scary and heartbreakingly sad. Thank goodness the boy has his Dad.
