It is essential that if anyone is suspected of child abuse it should be reported and the INVESTIGATED fully.
Southall used allegations of child abuse to manipulate the system in order to obtain his "lab rats" If parents said "No" to him he found another way to get the child. He used a system set in place to protect children as a means of getting them.
No-one questioned him or his motives, other than the parents and he made sure that they were discredited.
David Southall was the director but all the agencies who were duty bound to investigate and protect the child failed to do just that.
They were prepared to go along, and not question anything that Southall ( the Director ) told them to do. He was their Guru.
David SAouthall is responsible , yes, but he could not have directed this for so many years if any one of the other agencies had actually done their jobs properly.i.e Police, Social Services.
By the time those people realised what was going on they too had been implicated because of their "passive" roll in the so called investigation. They had taken Southall's word as gospel and it was too late for them to go back. Any acknowledgement or further investigation would have brought to light their own short comings, and so it went on and on and on !

Dr Southall has had a controversial career
A paediatrician is being investigated by police over a claim he assaulted a child, a hearing has been told.
The accusation against Dr David Southall was made by the parents of the boy - a former patient identified only as Child H - to South Wales police.

Dr Southall, 59, is currently appearing before the General Medical Council.

He faces a potential serious misconduct charge and being struck off after being found to have inappropriately accused a bereaved mother of killing her son.

Richard Tyson QC told the GMC's fitness to practise panel in London: "Mrs H has reported her concerns about Dr Southall's treatment of her son to the South Wales police.

Suspended

"I can say this about that: The South Wales police are investigating an allegation of assault made by Mr and Mrs H concerning their son, Child H.

"It is alleged that Dr Southall was a party to the commission of an offence in July 1991. His exact role in the matter is the subject of ongoing investigation."

The paediatrician is already suspended from child protection work.

He was found guilty of serious professional misconduct by the GMC in 2004 over his role in the case of Sally Clark, wrongly jailed over the death of her two sons.

Dr Southall accused Mrs Clark's husband Steve of murdering the two boys on the basis of a television interview.

Dr Southall worked as a consultant paediatrician at London's Royal Brompton Hospital from 1982 before moving to the same post at the North Staffordshire Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent in 1992

Sorry to post again but there is one other major issie in all of this.
Southall admitted that he holds 4,500 SC files.
These files relate to probably EVERY child/ family that he has come into contact with.
It has been prooven at the GMC Hearing that the files relating to two of the cases at the GMC Hearing held original medical documents that could not be found anywhere else.
On one child it held a list of dianosis in relation to that child. This list had never been seen before and it had previously been denied that these diagnosis' had ever been made ! All medical records had disapeared.
As a result these previou diagnosis' were "hidden" from everyone involved with this child in the future - even the parents.
For 17 years this childs life was put at risk of sudden unexpected death - if this had happened both parents would have been accused of his murder and under Southall's direction you can guess the most likely outcome!
How many more of these 4,500 SC Files contains a "hidden" medical diagnosis' on these children? How many more children have had their lives put at risk ?
Southall's research contained a "non-intervention policy " ie No treatment or intervention in possible outcome. ? Death
IT IS VITAL THAT ANY FAMILY WHO HAS EVER HAD CONTACT WITH SOUTHALL COMES FORWARD. THERE MAY BE INFORMATION HELD IN THEIR SC FILE THAT IS VITAL FOR THE WELL-BEING OF THAT FAMILY AND THE GENERATIONS TO FOLLOW. ie Heredity conditions.
Tragically some children may have even died because their diagnosis was "hidden" and ignored.

This report from one of his young "patients" makes interesting reading. Sounds like he and his family have been badly let down.

Did anyone hear him on the Today programme at 8.20? Wasn't John Humphries polite?!

Throughout the interview Southall was unable to utter the words, 'I got it wrong and I am sorry.'

He did say he would be appealing though, because the GMC are wrong because they didn't have a paediatrician on the judging panel, so there was no-one trained in child protection there. Do you have to be trained in child protection to know that secreting 4500 case files where the information is not duplicated elsewhere is wrong?

Yup. Posted on the other thread. Chilling that Southall is still insisting he was right, has done nothing at all in any way wrong, works in the best interests of the child, and anyone who disagrees is part of some conspiracy against people who investigate child abuse.
