I know, it seems unlikely, but if he's telling even half truths, you can see why they tried so desperately not to sack him.

No, if he'd been 'the good guy' he'd have acted on what he knew at the time, not spilled the beans much later when it's no good to all the dead people. For instance, knowing that Matt Hancock was lying about the ring of protection round care homes he'd have spoken out about it in an attempt to rectify the situation.
That's what 'the good guy' would have done.

However, I do believe that there is a lot of truth in what he is saying. I am suspicious of his motives in sharing it now when he did nothing about it then, but that doesn't mean that he's making it up. Sadly it's all too believable.

None of them have any morals between them.

I don't believe it for a minute, but I guess he might argue that he stayed where he might have been able to influence things for as long as he could?

It was scheming and masterminding that elevated that lot to their positions. If he really had a care the country and its leadership he wouldn't have engineered it that the likes of Johnson became prime minister.

I watched all 7 hours of Cummings's testimony yesterday. It is all tragically believable. He is now taking legal advice about producing supporting evidence, e.g. messages exchanged with the Cabinet Secretary.

He's certainly not finished with the allegations.

As for, why didn't he whistleblow earlier, why didn't any of them? Which was his point - it was all just such a dysfunctional mess inside Number 10 and Cabinet, no correct actions were possible. And people like him had stupid amounts of power despite not knowing what they were doing.

I believe a lot of what he is saying is true, though I think he’s communicating it in a way to take any responsibility from himself. I think he was more involved in decisions than he is making out.

Yes I think this is probably when they didn’t want to get rid of him. Seemed likely at the time that they didn’t want to get rid of him because he has been party to too much information.

None of it particularly surprises me though.

He's simply a moderately clever jerk who loves chaos and throwing everything into disarray to see what will happen. He's enjoying throwing the grenades around for the sake of it. It is ridiculous that any of them got into power but we live in an easy-to-manipulate society these days.

Tbh I think he's telling the truth, he owes them no loyalty after they booted him out, and some of the things he said fit with timeframes of what happened

I agree he is telling the truth (mostly) but for his own reasons.

But the important thing, really, is that just because people don;t trust/like Cummings - what he is saying about the PM not caring and all the rest of the absolute awfulness is pretty much true.

The people we should have in our minds is the bereaved family.

Of course he's not. He's the kid who snitches after being thrown out of the gang for not playing fair.

He’s a liar but that doesn’t mean that everything he says is lies. Just because he’s clearly right that Matt Hancock is an imbecile and Boris is unfit for office doesn’t make him “a good guy” though - he’s as bad as the rest of them.

He’s not doing this to be the good guy, he’s doing this because he enjoys pissing off people.

He will be loving people poring over his every word in a way that they don’t over his tediously long but similar blogs.

Of course he isn’t a good guy. It’s all for revenge.

But believe him? Oh yes, absolutely.

He got us into this mess by making Johnson seem electable and it’s his fault that they were tied up with Brexit when they should have been dealing with a pandemic. Same lies and manipulation in the Vote Leave campaign and he was in charge of it.

This government of useless liars is one that he helped put into power, and the tactics they use are his.

Nope. Never going to look like a good guy. He’s spent months trying to think of a better explanation for Banard Castle fiasco and is now having a rant. That doesn’t mean he’s lying, I mean obviously the government response to covid was a shambles, too little too late too confused etc. (So much for ‘take back control of our borders’ - the one bloody time we needed control of our borders was in a pandemic and all Boris could do was wibble about the economy).

Everyone knows Boris and his government are lying incompetents so I don’t see why that’s such major news. People knew before they voted for Boris that he had been fired more than once for dishonesty. The problem was that there was no real electable opposition at the time (or now).

I don’t believe Cummings about Matt Hancock either, it was very obvious early on that Boris was planning to use Hancock as a fall guy at some point. Sometimes Hancock would be sent out to announce govt policy and then Boris would change it hours later making Hancock look silly on purpose because - from my armchair - Hancock was the only person on the team who wasn’t a sleazy incompetent.

I don’t believe him and I think he’s a snake. He’s not clever he’s manipulative and egotistical but not clever.

Cummings is using Matt Hancock as the fall guy exactly as he told you was the plan.

Of course he's not. He's an arrogant, obnoxious twat who thinks he's untouchable.
