Surely Dominic Cummings isn't going to turn out to be the good guy?

Holding everyone to account?

I know, it seems unlikely, but if he's telling even half truths, you can see why they tried so desperately not to sack him.

I can not understand the stupidity of Johnson. The first rule of leadership, don't piss of the person who knows where the bodies are buried.

Is DC telling the truth? I think he's telling a version of the the truth.

Is Johnson incompetent? Undoubtedly.
Is Hancock responsible for many deaths in care homes? Undoubtedly.

Has this government rewarded their mate, without a doubt.

Are we deep in the shit? Well, thanks to scientists, local authorities, logic experts, volunteers ect. we can hope that the vaccine will get us out of it.
The so called Indian variant may defeat us, but I'm still hopeful about the pandemic situation.

I'm far less hopeful about our political situation.

A person who is a proven list gets elected to lead the country?

What have we become?

I despair

Lindy2 · 27/05/2021 19:33

He's a complete slime ball.

He had no regard for lockdown and is now trying to make out he's such a good guy. He actually seems quite deranged to me.

Mistakes were made. However in March/April did any of us really comprehend what was actually happening? Hindsight is a useful tool when trying to point blame on others.

itsgettingwierd · 27/05/2021 19:36

The question most frequently asked after his eyesight driving test was

"What does he have on them he's unsackable"

I think we may find out.

But I don't think he's an innocent victim in all this. He's as bad but much cleverer and will will don the best life jacket as the ship goes down.

UberMullet · 27/05/2021 19:37

He didn't make himself look good at all in his testimony. He admitted that he got it wrong and apologised. What the bigger picture is though is anyone's guess. Gove never got a mention. He bigged up Sunak and iirc said nice things about Raab. He surely knows much more about what is going on in the background. I hope Boris and Hancock are toast, but they always say about being careful what you wish for.

LEMtheoriginal · 27/05/2021 19:40

I felt sick to my.stomach watching him yesterday. Apologusing to the families of the people who said he is complicit in their deaths. Vile disingenuous cunt. I don't think ive ever hated someone i don't know quite so much.

NiceGerbil · 27/05/2021 19:40

Ha ha ha ha no.

The security threat rush to his parents birthday party, really? What was the Specsavers drive all about then?

picturesandpickles · 27/05/2021 19:50

He was subject to death threats though. And people did used to stand outside his house and shout at him. I think he would have been at risk.

I absolutely can not stand his politics, or his dreadful lying approach to polictics but I think, when he talked about it, he could have been on the edge of a stress meltdown at that time.

itsgettingwierd · 27/05/2021 20:02

I do believe he had death threats.

Johnson made sure everything was blamed on him making him the evil genius.

What he said and did is anyone's guess.

But he's now iliciting his revenge and this will not be pretty.

picturesandpickles · 27/05/2021 20:06

It is alwasy nice watching the Tories tear lumps out of each other. I know he is not a real Tory but it is good enough.

But I am so so sad that tens of thousands of loved people died when they needn't have done.

And I am livid Johnson didn't learn anything, the selfish, brainless, uncaring article that he is.

He was subject to death threats though. And people did used to stand outside his house and shout at him. I think he would have been at risk. well yes most politicians get threats especially if they’re black or female. I’m pretty sure you call the police don’t you?

Story 1: carry Covid to elderly parents house
Story 2: check eyesight by driving wife and toddler to local beauty spot and doing a bit of frolicking in the woods
Story 3: take family who’s lives are in danger to elderly parents house.

General overview: I am the only one who can judge risk and make sensible plans in dangerous situations.

Does he look like/sound like/behave like an honest clever great guy in an emergency? Does he? I wouldn’t trust him to keep ten children safe at a tea party.

Blossomtoes · 27/05/2021 20:28

@Brazilianut

Of course he isn’t a good guy. It’s all for revenge.

But believe him? Oh yes, absolutely.

This. However much of an odious shit he is, he’s telling the truth.
NiceGerbil · 27/05/2021 20:29

I'm sure he had death threats all politicians pretty much do these days.

Doesn't explain the Specsavers drive.

MarshaBradyo · 27/05/2021 20:29

No he’s telling the story because he left not the other way round

nancy75 · 27/05/2021 20:32

The truth of the matter is, there is no good guy.
They are all as despicable as each other.

It's was also his mums birthday while he was up there. They had a party, if my sources are to be believed
MarshaBradyo · 27/05/2021 20:39

I don’t doubt the threats as there was that street calling stuff but wasn’t that all after his trip. When everyone was really annoyed (no excuse obvs)

CHISistoast · 27/05/2021 20:44

Didn't he come up with most policies? But is now protesting he shouldn't have had that job as he isn't "smart" enough?! Thus cleverly blaming whoever recruited him and making them responsible for his shortcummings...

partyatthepalace · 27/05/2021 20:59

No OP, he is just saying whatever to save himself. He’d say or do anything. Same as Johnson or Gove.

twinklystar23 · 18/06/2021 11:12

Reading this thread makes me think this is another tory set up. If the Tories were sticking together surely DC would be shut down, by whatever means necessary? I'm deeply suspicious that he is being positive/not making negative comments about other MPs. Its suggesting that they use Hancock as the fall guy, and could the knives be out for BJ as well?
Am deeply concerned that this could be an attempt to gloss over everything. DC is equally a self serving bastsrd as they all are and its making me think there's more to this than just just revenge.
Historically, typical Tory behaviour. What do others think?
*couldbr care less about BJ and Hancock more focussed on the dynamics....

CaptainMyCaptain · 18/06/2021 11:14

No, if he'd been 'the good guy' he'd have acted on what he knew at the time, not spilled the beans much later when it's no good to all the dead people This is exactly what I came on to say.
