Her family over-ruled her wishes. they authorised a transfusion, but she had haemorraged too badly by that point. she found a lot of strength from her faith and couldnt wait to become a mother.

it is a tragic story and i thank everyone who has passed their prayers and wishes onto her family.

good night Em x

So sad for her family - what an awful time for them. Sending lots of positive wishes to them in the hope that they will find the strength to get through this.

scorpio1 · 05/11/2007 15:27

lissie i htought this was what you were saying about last week when i heard it on the news yesterday. i take it she was a relation? Sorry if you have said this already.

RubySlippers · 05/11/2007 15:27

lissie - my heartfelt sympathies

lissietothosefireworks · 05/11/2007 15:29

scorpio, she was my lil sis's friend. they worked together for years and they kept in touch when sis moved jobs. they were really close.

Thanks lissie. so sad.

bogie · 05/11/2007 15:31

such a sad story my thoughts are with the family

MaureenMLove · 05/11/2007 15:34

I know you were in two minds about whether to send some flowers to the family, but maybe your sister could do with them. Just to let her know you're there. It must be really hard for her, especially as she was obviously close, but not part of the family iyswim. She could probably do with the support too.

lissietothosefireworks · 05/11/2007 15:34

thank you all, its just the facts have been lost on the other thread amongst the debate.

lissietothosefireworks · 05/11/2007 15:36

thats a good idea mo. the family wanted "new baby" cards instead of sympathy cards...

Thanks for the real story, Lissie and condolences for the young mother's family (and your sister).

So tragic, and you are so right on the other thread when you say that no-one expects problems in their first labour (or epidurals/ventouse/C-Sections etc).

Thank you for clarifying the facts, it is all too easy for hysteria and sensationalism to kick in when we don't really know the truth.

Lissie I am so very sorry- didn't feel I could respond to your thread the other night as I wasn't sure what news item you were referring to.

What a dreadful thing to happen

dd666 · 05/11/2007 16:59

hoping those tiny babies will know how speacial there mom was hoping your sister gets all the support for supporting her friends family sending hugs to all in need of one

shinyhappytonks · 05/11/2007 17:07

Sending thoughts and prayers to all involved in this sad outcome. No matter what we believe it is a terrible ending to something that should have been so joyous.
