Shock
TellusMater · 15/10/2007 18:39

With immediate effect! Why so swift?

Marina · 15/10/2007 18:40

Love the fact that it's Vincent "Price" Cable and Simon Hughes kindly sharing that news with the world...of course they had nothing to do with Ming's "decision"
Still, at least they have not had to hand back £8.3 million in donations because the giver was ruled clinically insane, eh what?

EffiePerine · 15/10/2007 18:40

[sigh]

Nice to see more backstabbing among those nice people in the Lib Dems. Really, I despair.

Carmenere · 15/10/2007 18:40

This is a bit odd isn't? I wonder if he has been up to something dodgy?

Marina · 15/10/2007 18:42

Effie, as a lifelong Lim Dem supporter (if not voter, for tactical reasons = I've never lived anywhere where they even had a chance) even I'd admit that they fight like mongoose vs rattlesnake at every opportunity

tortoiseSHELL · 15/10/2007 18:42

My suspicion is that it's simply that DC had a good day in Parliament last week, and thye felt they were slipping back, adn MC wasn't the leader to take them forward.

marina, too right about the bringers of the news!

EffiePerine · 15/10/2007 18:42

Next Simon Hughes will be elected. Just f*cking great.

TellusMater · 15/10/2007 18:42

I reckon he's just been stabbed in the back by the young Tories Turks who ousted Kennedy and put him in instead.

EffiePerine · 15/10/2007 18:43

(and I speak as a Lib Dem voter from a long line of Lib Dem voters)

RubyShivers · 15/10/2007 18:43

strange - no-one saw that coming did they?!
quick resignations mean one of two things usually - they are in poor health, or they have been up to something they perhaps shouldn't

EffiePerine · 15/10/2007 18:43

Bring back Paddy, that's what I say. More trained killers in Parliament.

TheEvilDediderata · 15/10/2007 18:43

Bye, Ming!

Carmenere · 15/10/2007 18:44

Any chance we might see Charles Kennedy back?

EffiePerine · 15/10/2007 18:44

or they've been stabbed in the back by a load of iffy men in sandals (recycling Julius Caeser jokes)

hunkermunker · 15/10/2007 18:44

Who?

TellusMater · 15/10/2007 18:44

It's been on the cards for ages surely - but the "with immediate effect" is certainly

RubyShivers · 15/10/2007 18:44

yes effie - that is the third option

Marina · 15/10/2007 18:45

We want the Paddster
He'd have Simon Hughes for breakfast

SenoraPostrophe · 15/10/2007 18:45

but resigning with immediate effect is quite unusual isn't it?

EffiePerine · 15/10/2007 18:45

Absolutely. Send him to the Tory HQ with some cheeswire and a black mask

tortoiseSHELL · 15/10/2007 18:46

I agree marina!

OP posts:
TellusMater · 15/10/2007 18:46

And he didn't make the announcement himself...

SenoraPostrophe · 15/10/2007 18:47

maybe he is very unwell?
