Article here

I like Leo Hickman, and I loved this piece, (had to stifle a sob a couple of times!) but I'm amazed that despite having the transcript he still doesn't know the name of the woman who talked him through it!

I've had 3 altogether, moondog which makes it all the more amazing to me to have got this far... Don't worry, I'll be posting - I'm secretly hoping to have a live labour thread

Thank you too wendy No, absolutely blimming twingeless and this after spenidng weeks 29-34 listening to my gyn going on about the worrying cervical shortening and funnelling I was experiencing

Flamesparrow · 15/09/2007 22:56

I was going with speaker phone and transcript

berolina · 15/09/2007 22:56

Ellbell! Hello!

WendyWeber · 15/09/2007 22:57

Siphoning, probably, ellbell!

Remember I am away Thursday to Saturday this week, bero... Don't you dare go into labour then! Resume legs-crossed position. I'll let you know when I get back.

(Bero is bound to have baby on Thursday, Friday or Saturday now. I shall miss it. [Sulks in advance])

berolina · 15/09/2007 23:01

I'm hoping (as you know) for sooner... I changed the bedsheets unnecessarily this morning hoping to jerk sod's law into action in making my waters break tonight all over the clean sheets

cazzybabs · 15/09/2007 23:04

Oh god it brought tears to my eyes...how amazing! The autor is amazingly calm - I am not sure I would be!

elasticbandstand · 15/09/2007 23:08

congrats.
are you having ahome birth ?

FREAKshow · 15/09/2007 23:09

I loved the "I need a towel" shouting to his MIL, and the operator telling him calmly that he'd need two towels. It was a lovely piece, though I'm sure glad my dh didn't have to deliver my baby for me!

DaDaDa · 15/09/2007 23:11

And to think you lot say we can't multitask. He was talking on the phone and delivering a baby at the same time. Well done chap.

I suppose she did pretty well too.

Gobbledigook · 15/09/2007 23:13

Oh God, so emotional.
Blimey, I'll blub at anything.

berolina · 15/09/2007 23:14

(if you mean me EBS) no, sadly not - ds' birth and the first part of this pg were too complicated. Not entirely sure I'm up to it after reading this, anyway

marthamoo · 15/09/2007 23:14

Oh thanks for that. Now I'm all with the tears and the snot...awwwwww.

Jenkeywoo · 15/09/2007 23:19

aw, what a lovely story. I had a dream last night that I gave birth very quickly at home to a baby boy - very strange. Now reading this article tonight has made me feel very broody and I'm definatively not allowed to be pregnant again yet.

good luck Berolina - hoping your little one is in your arms soon.

IdrisTheDragon · 15/09/2007 23:21

I was nearly crying too. Very moving.

maisym · 15/09/2007 23:39

super article - the emergency operator seems so calm.

Ellbell · 15/09/2007 23:48

Teary and broody....

Nesting, berolina? Changing sheets is a good sign. Now, if you could just have a word with this baby and mention that Auntie Ellbell needs to be away from her computer from Thursday morning, so if s/he'd just like to put in an appearance before then Auntie Ellbell would be most grateful, thank you!

harrisey · 16/09/2007 00:17

I cried sitting reading in the soft play!!

brimfull · 16/09/2007 01:05

very moving

did anyone else think of the Little Britain sketches when they shouted for "margaret"

Hilarious looking for safety pin!

FlossALump · 16/09/2007 05:05

berolina - I'm overdue too! Ds was born at 37+6 and I'm now 40+4 and somewhat miffed... Having said that am up with tummy pains, which even if not the real thing is heartening as all the pains I had been getting had stopped completely!

Loved the link - somehow doubt my DP would be as useful...

thanks - that is really lovely - bit scary but lovely.

BBBee · 16/09/2007 09:30

shame to think that if you click the "no 'in the news'" box you miss things like this.

berolina · 16/09/2007 09:31

Baby has been told, Ellbell

You too, Floss? Sympathy and mutual labour vibes

(My sheets remained clean, btw... )

edam · 16/09/2007 09:32

I'm blubbing... but was also bloody worried in the middle. Thank heavens it was all OK.
