Article here

I like Leo Hickman, and I loved this piece, (had to stifle a sob a couple of times!) but I'm amazed that despite having the transcript he still doesn't know the name of the woman who talked him through it!

I'm crying reading that, amazing wow

LadyTophamHatt · 16/09/2007 09:47

I'm not crying...no, not at all

I had a similar conversation with a 999 operatr when I was in labour with ds2, thankfully the paramedics arroved to deliver him so that I didn't have too!

WideWebWitch · 16/09/2007 09:53

OMg, it made me cry, wuss that I am.

LadyTophamHatt · 16/09/2007 09:54

it makes me feel stupidly broody too....

WideWebWitch · 16/09/2007 09:55

GET A GRIP LTH! OTOH ah, maybe just one leetle one more?

Flamesparrow · 16/09/2007 10:04

joins LTH in broodiness

You're nuts LTH! I didn't dream about this bloody thread, noooo not at all....

hoxtonchick · 16/09/2007 10:05

made me weep

Jamantha · 16/09/2007 10:12

I must be heartless. I read this this morning, and while I enjoyed reading it, and found it gripping, it did not make me weep at all. And I wondered why this was more worthy of national press prominance when the man who delivered his breech baby in a layby en route to hospital this summer only made our local rag (as far as I know).

Perhaps I'm just tired and cynical today though?

FlossALump · 16/09/2007 10:13

Labour vibes back to you berolina!! pains came to nothing - as usual. Crazy as it sounds though just having them has uplifted me a bit! Even if I am now completely shattered! About to start on project get DP up out of bed so I can get back in it!

berolina · 16/09/2007 10:14

Sleep well I am about to take ds out to the botanic gardens - walking around for hours and hours hasn't helped yet, but can't hurt

FlossALump · 16/09/2007 10:19

Ah, given up on that. Walking Ds to nursery and back twice a week (1-2hrs walking in present state!) hasn't helped. However, a nice stroll round some gardens would be nice. Have a lovely day!!

berolina · 16/09/2007 10:19

thanks we will

Tamdin · 16/09/2007 10:20

good question MMJ. I think having been through it it evokes powerful memories but I did used to cry at the birth stories on sky before i had ds so think i'm just too soft!

BF is due 3rd baby on wednesday and is having her first homebirth. do you think i should send her this or would it be too overwhelming?

CaptainUnderpants · 16/09/2007 10:55

Lovely piece , however what came to mind when he was calling for his MIL ' Margaret ! ' is the Little Britain sketch in the shop .

Margaret have we got any towels !

walbert · 16/09/2007 11:03

Aww, my eyes have gone all prickly!!! Christ, if i show this to dh he'll be broody as clucky old hen!

Tamdin · 16/09/2007 11:06

WendyWeber · 16/09/2007 11:10

Jamantha, the fact that he is a journo who writes for the Guardian might have something to do with it

LadyTophamHatt · 16/09/2007 17:34
