But where in the article does it says the child has SN?

MyTwopenceworth · 22/08/2007 22:36

It doesn't.

LittleBella · 22/08/2007 22:38

No-one's saying it's a let out. And if you think that the police and the criminal justice system are even recognising SN in the way they deal with young people, let alone dealing it as a free get out of jail card, then you obviously know some very unusual police officers and judicial officials.

We don't know the full circumstances of this, the reports don't make clear what his SN is. But SN or not, the fact that we are so bloody incompetent as a society, that we can't deal with minor childhood misdemeanours without involving the full weight of the law, shows that something is seriously wrong with the way we are approaching social order. IMO.

LittleBella · 22/08/2007 22:38

That article doesn't mention it.

I heard a report on the radio earlier on.

mumtodd · 22/08/2007 22:40

I wonder what else is on the list of things that are acceptable to throw at elderly people. I think that fact that it was a sausage is irrelevant really. People should be able to go about their lives without being harrassed.

Upwind · 22/08/2007 22:43

Inevitably the daily mail is throwing a fit about it calling the incident a Just William prank.
[http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=477032&in_page_id=177 0]

In years gone by, the police would probably have simply put the fear of God into the boy and not taken it further. These days their only recourse is to press charges. And it is a shame the incident is being trivialised because with three previous reprimands the boy has form and will probably continue to behave badly.

EricL · 23/08/2007 00:27

You may all laugh - but i know this is only the start and is only going to end in tears.

Pretty soon he will progress to pork chops, then ham houghs (vicious bone in the middle - very nasty) and then a full blown descendency into racks of ribs.

There has been a 14% increase in assaults using pork products this year and i think they need to be categorised in classes the same as drugs to take the bone to meat ratio into consideration.

I was assaulted by a square sausage last year so i think pork and beef hybrids need to be monitored as well.

UnquietDad · 23/08/2007 11:49

This is the wurst story.

speedymama · 23/08/2007 11:53

The feckless mother obviously believes all the porkies her precious son tells her.

CountessDracula · 23/08/2007 11:54

haha
this reminds me of the headline in a Geneva local newspaper once

"Old woman mocked by youths" or soemthing along those lines

aloha · 23/08/2007 11:54

Oh for heavens sake. This boy is 12 (and rather small for his age) has such severe learning difficulties he goes to a special school and is arrested, held in a cell, fingerprinted and hauled into court for throwing a tiny cocktail sausage at a bloke's back.
it is insane.

2shoes · 23/08/2007 13:25

don't you lot watch gmtv?
they interviewed the mother and son. turns out he is not a bad boy(says mum) he has only had a few cautions
Sounds like the police wee probally fed up with dealing with him.

paolosgirl · 23/08/2007 14:12

Funny how so many mothers of these miscreants always insist their children are not bad, just misunderstood/persecuted/easily led.

I wish more would stand up and acknowledge that their offspring have behaved badly, and that SERIOUS consequences will follow.

tatt · 23/08/2007 14:45

interesting - more info on this thread than in the papers. Spending 2,000 taking a 12 year old kid to court over a sausage is ridiculous. Far better to spend it on someone giving his mother a few classes in parenting skills. Sounds like the police have got fed up so I'd guess they are getting nowhere with the mother.

aloha · 23/08/2007 14:48

What kind of miserable old fecker calls the police because a little boy has thrown a cocktail sausage at him? And what sort of policeman doesn't just laugh and get on with dealing with crime?

Spidermama · 23/08/2007 14:51

I'm glad to read this. I think it's high time sausage crime was taken more seriously.

UnquietDad · 23/08/2007 15:52

Tough on sausage crime, tough on the causes of sausage crime.

Spidermama · 23/08/2007 15:59

'Figures out by the met police today have found pork crime across the capital has fallen by seven percent on the same month last year. However, the number of sausage crimes rose by 18% bucking the trend.'

From the BBC website. It's a very worrying trend.

UnquietDad · 23/08/2007 16:21

Can imagine this being brought up in PMQs.

"I would like to assure the honourable gentleman that, since we came to power, we have invested an extra £2 million in combatting sausage incidents, and the latest annual figures show a decrease in the rate of sausage-related crime. This is compared to the increase in ALL meat-related crimes when his party was in power!"

aloha · 23/08/2007 16:41

A spokesman said, 'We think it is important to crack down on incidents such as these, as cocktail sausages are regarded as 'gateway' sausages. They appear relatively harmless, but soon users may find themselves seeking out ever stronger hits from cumberland rings, black puddings or even entire chorizos."

Hurlyburly · 23/08/2007 16:46

Just for that, Aloha I shall stalk you around these boards.

aloha · 23/08/2007 18:25
Smile
hatwoman · 23/08/2007 18:29

personally I think sausages should be legalised. it's ridiculous.

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 23/08/2007 18:58

Personally I was deeply disturbed by EricL's post

"I was assaulted by a square sausage last year so i think pork and beef hybrids need to be monitored as well."

Square sausage!!, those things have CORNERS FGS we can't have them falling into the wrong hands!!

God you can tell he is a bad lot just from his choice of missile. A sausage eh? Bet he had just eaten the pastry off what was originally a GREGG'S SAUSAGE ROLL.

Perhaps he can have some kind of treatment to steer him towards more harmless foodstuffs, nice ham for instance.
