at risk of being serious, the fact that he takes sleeping tablets makes me think he has something like ADD. However, 'assault with a pork snack' is making me laugh a lot.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 22/08/2007 20:59

I wonder if it was frozen. (The victim believed he had been hit by a stone, I see.)
They never give the really important details, do they?

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 22/08/2007 20:59

Is the poor sausage I felt sorry for.

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 22/08/2007 21:00

You're not suggesting that poor sausage was frozen first then lobbed...aargh the humanity!

OP posts:
FrayedKnot · 22/08/2007 21:00

And all the more because it was a cocktail sausage and he was not swinging some huge bratwurst around

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/08/2007 21:01

i'm sorry but i am lmfao at:

'common assault - with a sausage.'

BrownSuga · 22/08/2007 21:02

it was his fourth offence. he started off with mash, went for the peas, turfed the carrots, then waded in with sausage.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/08/2007 21:02

i had visions of the bloke being clubbed about the head with a footlong or something!

mollymawk · 22/08/2007 21:02

But it was a cocktail sausage. Maybe it came with a cocktail stick too. Now that would hurt.

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 22/08/2007 21:03

In fairness you could have someone's eye out with a cocktail sausage!

I saw this article too and was reading it with growing disbelief musing to myself 'what are the CPS thinking of!!!', but then I read one of the closing paragraphs:

"Charging the boy was the only option because he had previously been issued with three reprimands, a GMP spokeswoman said."

and thought - ah tis more to it than meets the eye

whomovedmychocolate · 22/08/2007 21:06

What sort of cocktail parties admit small boys?

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 22/08/2007 21:11

Well I for one think it's about time they started cracking down on these pork related offences.

Oh it's harmless enough when they start with the cocktail sausages but then they move on to chorizo and before you know it, only Black Pudding will do!

mumsnet is making me laugh a lot tonight

TwitmonstEr · 22/08/2007 21:15

lol
it will be cheese and pineapple on sticks next

whomovedmychocolate · 22/08/2007 21:15

Oh judge judy you've just reminded me of a joke. A guy keeps farting in bed and his wife gets increasingly fed up of this. So one night she says to him 'one day you will fart and you will shit your guts out'.

Anyway he continues to parp each night so she goes the butcher and gets a back of assorted innards and the next morning gets up before him and arranges them in the bed.

She is drinking a cup of tea when she hears a scream. She waits five minutes and he appears, ashen faced at the kitchen door. 'Something wrong' she asks.

'You were right', he says. 'I farted and my guts came out'.....

'But for the grace of god and with this tub of vaseline I managed to get them all back in there'

Isababel · 22/08/2007 21:17

"The victim, who believed he had been hit with a stone, told police it was the latest in a series of incidents in which he had been intimidated by local youths."

Who cares he has been intimidating an elderly person, as long as he is good in selecting his "weapons" he will be fine.

paolosgirl · 22/08/2007 21:21

I must be getting old, but I can't help feeling very sorry for the old man, and feeling that the little shit who did this to him got everything he deserved. So there.

handlemecarefully · 22/08/2007 21:23

barfing and whomovedmycholate's joke!

handlemecarefully · 22/08/2007 21:24

barfing 'at'

MyTwopenceworth · 22/08/2007 22:00

I think the fact that it was a sausage is totally missing the point.

A 12 year old boy thought that it was acceptable to throw things at an old man - thought it was ok to taunt am old man. Its not the firs t timer he's been in trouble and his motherm, instead of seeing that the isseu is her son is a pain int eh ARSE and she needs to sotr him, decides to say the police are bonklers.

A stone, as ausage, a stick, aan insult...it doesnt matter. The problme is her son is an ignorant brat and needs taking in hand.

LittleBella · 22/08/2007 22:18

The boy concerned has special needs.

He had not been persecuting the old man, a number of youths had been involved in incidents with the man, this incident was separate to those incidents, but became conflated in the bloke's mind (understandably) and in media reports (not so forgivably).

The reason the boy has had 3 reprimands, is because the police are not educated in how to deal with a 12 year old with SN.

There is already disturbing evidence that ASBO's, reprimands etc., are disproportionately more likely to be issued to children with SN.

Honestly, how we hate kids in this country. IF we can't deal with a minor act of bad behviour on the part of a more than normally vulnerable 12 year old without hauling him before the criminal justice system, then we really are incompetent adults.

Upwind · 22/08/2007 22:27

There are also issues with people using an SN diagnosis to excuse totally unacceptable behaviour, or so they don't have to take responsibility for their dc's development.

I am literally a certified crazy person so I know first hand how tempting it is to blame all bad behaviour on SN I was an adult before I was diagnosed and am grateful for that or I suspect I would never have learned to take responsibility for myself.

MyTwopenceworth · 22/08/2007 22:30

So he's got special needs, so what? My kids are autistic. If they went round throwing stuff at people I'd hit the bloody roof. SN is not a get out of jail free card. It means you have to work 10x harder as a parent.

Upwind · 22/08/2007 22:30

To qualify my last post there is obviously a continuum of SN and I suspect a huge proportion of those diagnosed now would simply have been regarded as eccentric in years gone by. And I am not convinced that a label is healthy for children.
