Just because we focus on one incident does not mean we don't care about others. What are we supposed to do? Tell that mother not to be so upset because her child is just one of hundreds to die that day? Tell others not to leave flowers or condolence cards because of the same reason?

When someone close to you dies, would you be saying the same thing to yourself? Would you turn away sympathisers?

You are just being vile for the sake of it.

I think it's natural to relate to a 'local' story perhaps more than something that is happening many miles away, although that doesn't meant we don't have sympathy or feelings about those stories. For example,the 11 yr old boy shot in Croxteth was really upsetting as it was a boy just a year older than my ds (and I know that children of the same age are suffering in Darfur, it's just that geography makes this seem closer)

We are all aware there is misery all over the world, but this thread is about 1 child in particular, so of course people will only comment about this story here.

AGBU..........your right these things do happen, but we are sympathising with what has happened as highlighted with the OP

tell you what, you go and tell that mother not to get to upset, this sort of thing happens all the time, Im sure she will understand..
