Yes, IMO, the term 'snowflake' has no place here. Using it implies you don't know what it means.

Although we don't know, and may never know of these lads, or their ringleaders, that they may be 'Well 'ard' to an extent that would make me clutch my pearls!

As for 'no excuses', I am not excusing them, just pondering as to what upbringing denies them any feeling of empathy towards often older blokes doing nothing more harmful than their harmless hobby.

I doubt any of them unless I am very much mistaken, could give us anything approaching an intelligent explanation for what they did.

I can say what I want thanks. Nothing will happen to them because kids have their arses wiped until adulthood these days. If not by their parent then by the authorities. They know nobody can touch them.

I am by no means a model railway enthusiast, but I am so very upset for the people who had their models destroyed- one apparently was a life’s work, taking 25 years and is irreplaceable. So very sad.

All kids get their arses wiped these days. Whether they're little gits or not. People always assume that all these things are done by the dragged up kids from poor homes when the opposite might be the case. There's a lot of generalising on this thread.

There are kids out there only being fed in school with no-one at home to wash their uniform or make their dinner let alone wipe their arses. There are kids out there performing intimate care duties for disabled parents while also caring for younger siblings. There are kids being shunted from foster placement to care home to foster placement again.

Seriously, if you think all the kids are getting their arses wiped for them you need to open a paper or go outside and talk to some real people.

I think when they come before a Judge (and it better ruddy get that far) the Judge should ask "why did you do it?" and they shouldn't be released until they can give a sensible answer. If that takes 20 years for them to figure it out then it takes 20 years. There has to be a reason! At what moment did their brains think "lets do this"? It's just heartbreaking for the model makers.

I know many young people go work bloody hard and don't expect things to be handed to them. I also know of older people who expect the younger generation to do everything for them as they should be respected simply because they are older.

Nope no excusing this behavior. I have family who make models and I know the research and attention to detail that goes into this. My uncle spent weeks researching one particular ship he was building. Including multiple visits, interviews with the crew, who even gave him the correct paint from the paint cupboard on board.

Believe me, some of my views regarding possible options offered to the serial breeders of uncontrolled, thence uncontrollable youth would get me thrown off MN!

Three of them are 15 and one is 16.

I am absolutely disgusted by their behaviour. One of the mothers claims they are mortified. I would ask where they got the drink from and why they thought it a good idea to get so drunk they didn't know what they were doing.

Also why did they decide to sleep in the school and how did they get in there?

Disgusting little thugs. They should be made to do some sort of community work and also they and their parents who seem to have dragged them up should be made to pay for the damage

Those poor modellers. Such work - years in the making. It takes me weeks to create a piece of work (not trains) and I’d be in bits if someone took a hammer to one of my ‘babies’z

My child’s primary keeps getting an out building vandalised that the kids have put a lot of hard work into to turn it into an eco project of sorts.

It’s so obvious it will be local teenagers in the evening. Will the local parents of the village teenagers contemplate it being their little darlings? God no. The honestly think the parents are very much part of the problem in most cases.

It wasn't before exams - they haven't done them yet. It was an end of school pre-exam 'celebration'. If I were their parents I would force a bottle of vodka down their necks before they sit each GCSE. See how they do with massive hangovers. I hope they are made to work with the club members to make good every single damaged item.

And, addressing other aspects of this post, where I've suggested the perpetrators are poorly guided, unsupported youth; but now appear to be boys from 'decent' families, well they need a far greater rocket shoving up them.

In my heart, I can find ways to at least understand why DC from feckless, chaotic households may, sadly have no understanding of the pain they've caused because 'empathy' was never on their curriculum- tho their 'punishment' must address this; if they were boys from 'good' homes, they need a bloody good (metaphorical) slapping.
