She's not the stupid one, though, is she? She's the inevitable product of the dippyness that hoovers all this nonsense up. If people still find her interesting, then it's not stupid to capitalize on that. Crass, maybe, but not stupid.

Aitch · 10/07/2007 15:11

anyway, it's almost funny the way that she says she felt that she was being punished, then goes on to exploit the 'punishment' for public sympathy. she obviously doesn't think god is very clever...

Aitch · 10/07/2007 15:11

ROFL at 'she hasn't gone to the papers'.

LittleBoot · 10/07/2007 15:12

I don't think you can blame Jade Goody for being too thick to have finer feelings Aitch

She's been brought up in the celebrity culture where there is no such thing as private feelings. She probably doesn't knwo how to not spill her feelings and thoguhts to whoever is interviewing her at that precise moment

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 15:13

LOL @ papers coming to her. Here's a handy hint Jade - when the man from the Mail/Sun/whatever phones you up and asks for your comments on something, say no. It's not hard.

Aitch · 10/07/2007 15:13

of course i can, i can do whatever i like, she's put it all out there for me to buy or not buy. that's the point.

LittleBoot · 10/07/2007 15:14

But she doesn't know how not to

She's thick

Poor thing

SueBaroo · 10/07/2007 15:14

Well, tbh, it was nice to read the CofE making a comment that was actually what I imagine Christ might say, rather than silly in-fights about gay priests and wotnot.

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 15:14

Fair point Little Boot.

GreensleevesSusan · 10/07/2007 15:15

I understand all the arguments about the dubious morality of selling her most intimate experiences to the papers/for money - but tbh I don't think she functions at that level. I do despise that tendency in more obviously calculating and intelligent slebs, but Jade....I just don't think she sees it that way. She thinks when she is all over the papers and selling perfume that she is loved, and that she is 'doing something good'. When she is disgraced and her merchandise is withdrawn from sale, she is 'in trouble' and it makes her feel sad. I don't think her thoughts on the subject of celebrity/exploitation etc are any more complex than that. She talked about the miscarriage because someone asked, I don't think she agonised over who she was talking to or how it would be perceived.

Honestly, there are far more worthy candidates if you want to revile someone.

Aitch · 10/07/2007 15:15

nope. not buying it.
she didn't get to having a perfume outselling the Beckhams by being that thick...

she sells herself, her inane thoughts, her family, her boob jobs, her relationships and now she sells the loss of her baby. it's revolting.

LittleBoot · 10/07/2007 15:16

But you don't have a choice about how thick you are

Unless you're suggesting that she studies particle physics in her spare time and hides it from the public in case it would damage her image?

GreensleevesSusan · 10/07/2007 15:17

Aw come on Aitch, she is surrounded by cynical muck-raking media hornets who organised the book and the TV career and the bloody perfume and everything else, and they're the same soulless money-grubbing hacks who are orchestrating this long drawn-out auto-da-fe she's turned into. She hasn't got a clue. She's the original sideshow freak.

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 15:17

Can see where you're coming from Greeny but I'm afraid I'm with Aitch on this one.

Aitch · 10/07/2007 15:19

depends how you see it, greeny. i think that she knows that when she's in trouble the way to get out of trouble is to use what she's got in front of her with no regard for taste or discretion, it's all for sale. her children, her relationship, and now her miscarriage.
but then she's just a working mum trying to get by, blah blah, but her job is to exploit herself.

LittleBoot · 10/07/2007 15:19

So agree with Greensleeves

Aitch · 10/07/2007 15:20

from what i hear in the industry she is far from as daft as she's painted, tbh.

claraq · 10/07/2007 15:20

This thread has gone from 10 messages to 36 in about 10 minutes which shows people are still interested in talking about Jade Goody. I feel sorry for anyone who has a m/c (if she was actually pregnant in the first place - good way to get publicity/sympathy?) but wouldn't it be better if we just ignored her and everything about her and maybe she would just go away?

Eeeerrrrk I'm as bad as everyone else by just writing that....

expatinscotland · 10/07/2007 15:21

I seriously doubt she's clueless. It's rare for completely clueless people to earn that kind of money.

I agree with Aitch here.

GreensleevesSusan · 10/07/2007 15:21

Your view presupposes a kind of burnt-in hard-wired morality that some people just don't have, Aitch. If YOU were to do what she's done then I'd agree with your conclusions. But really, if she had two more brain cells she'd be a geranium. Poor cow.

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 15:22

Hmmm, am wavering. Do you really think she is that thick and shallow? I suppose if all her decisions are made for her and if she really doesn't understand anything or what a fool she makes of her self then that might make me feel a teensy bit sorry for her. Perhaps.

all i know is that i used to have dealings with her Living TV PR and she said darkly that she wasn't stupid At All. she is utterly instinctive about PR, in quite a venal way, apparently. but at the same time not a dreadful person, so in many respects she is just as she's seen on telly, but at the same time hyper-aware of her saleability, iykwim?

Aitch · 10/07/2007 15:26

oh id definitely feel sorry for her that she lost her baby, that's shit. but as someont who's lost two i know i could hardly speak to even my DH about the fears i had for the whys taht caused them... hence the fact i find it so repulsive that she would talk about this to a hackette.

TootyFrooty · 10/07/2007 15:27

Sorry - I didn't make myself clear. Of course I feel sorry for her losing her babay. I meant that I'd feel sorry for her living this whole contrived, fake existence with absolutely no control over her own destiny. And for being so thick.
