GrowlingT, I'm in Lagos - I wouldn't go near PH with a barge pole.

Child ransoming is becoming more common in the Delta; there have been two other child abductions recently, both the dc of wealthy Nigerians. The Delta region is now offlimits to expats and their families but as this child has a British father and Nigerian mother I am assuming they thought her Nigerian parentage meant they'd not be at risk.

Many children travel with just a driver, who is often a loved and trusted part of the family. There's a Montessori nursery I pass regularly where small children often arrive accompanied only by a driver. Quite honestly, they're in more danger of being killed because they don't use seat belts than by kidnapping.

COV, I don't know when you were last in Nigeria but I've never paid a bribe to get out of the country and nor has anyone else I know!!!! Nigeria may not be a safe place to live - neither is London or Glasgow.

Cov never been in Nigeria, but my father went there for business all the time and every time he left the country they would rifle through his suitcase and hold things up asking "for me?" and continued to do so until he left them have something (same for all his colleagues), so they used to pack parker pens etc in their luggage specifically to give away
