Rachel Johnson

donnie · 04/07/2007 13:40

thank you. Needless to say she has instantly become my enemy. After all, who would want to live in , or write about WEST London......??

are you considering the post, DC?

WendyWeber · 04/07/2007 13:40

Cohabits with her husband, hey? There's a novelty. And what kind of a name is Ivo Dawnay?

donnie · 04/07/2007 13:41

and is that blonde hair out of a bottle?

RubySlippers · 04/07/2007 13:43

i would be more worried about gary bushell as a contender

donnie · 04/07/2007 13:45

yikes! isn't he very right wing?

noddyholder · 04/07/2007 13:45

love him and his lovely hair!what else does a mayor need?

RubySlippers · 04/07/2007 13:46

think he might be slightly to the right of Atilla the Hun

Marina · 04/07/2007 13:50

Gary Bushell is a rabble-rousing waste of space. Horrible man with horrible views.
Boris is little more than the Jermyn Street/Groucho Club W11 version though. Nothing glamorous or desirable about little-Englander views on immigration and diversity. They're just points along the same nasty line.
There's a lot I don't like about Ken Livingstone the person tbh but much more I like about his policies and his real dedication to the London ordinary people live in.

WaynettaWiggumSpice · 04/07/2007 13:53

Anyone's got to be better than Slimeball Ken

donnie · 04/07/2007 13:54

well I like Ken! bring back the GLC I say!

tortoiseSHELL · 04/07/2007 13:55

Being a provincial non-Londoner, KL has always seemed very good - very committed to London instead of himself iyswim.

Can't BEAR BJ.

PatMustard · 04/07/2007 13:56

But regardless of what you think of his policies, Ken seems to care for the City. All other mooted candidates just seem to be rabid self-publicists or keen to further their own careers.
And no-one has made any serious policy commitments, unless you count Not Being Ken (admitted a winner for some of the electorate ).

PatMustard · 04/07/2007 13:56

x post tortoise!

Marina · 04/07/2007 13:57

We want the GLC! We want County Hall! Bring back ILEA!

tortoiseSHELL · 04/07/2007 13:57

lol PM!

Upwind · 04/07/2007 14:05

Yes!

One of the few politicians with a sense of humour

UnquietDad · 04/07/2007 14:12

Oh, his sister is AWFUL.

With anyone called Ivo, I just think they are called Ivor and have left the R off to look posh.

DominiConnor · 04/07/2007 14:34

Sadly Donnie, people will vote for the next mayor of London based upon national party preferences. Thus the mayor will be chosen not on making the Olympics less of a disaster, transport, housing or crime, but on Iraq, income tax, immigration and a swarm of other national level things that are in no way related to the job.
Also I suspect that I wouldn't get the Irish vote).
But if you would like to second me, I will give the matter due consideration.

bossykate · 04/07/2007 14:39

i notice no-one thinking what a wheeze it would be to have boris in charge actually lives in london. oh super what a jolly jape.

bossykate · 04/07/2007 14:40

DC if people voted for London mayor on that basis, Ken wouldn't have got in would he? He won originally as in an independent.

chocolatedot · 04/07/2007 15:28

Boris is fantasically intelligent. Also think he's be great at getting stuff done. Don't be fooled by the bumbling media persona. Anything has to be better than Ken - truly vile man.

GameGirly · 04/07/2007 15:33

I live in London, Bossy! And I think it would be a jolly super jape, actually! I'm not saying he'd be any good, just that he'd give us all a good laugh.

Marina · 04/07/2007 15:49

While spending all our cash GameGirly . I think he is best confined to the set of HIGNFY where he can do less financial damage and possibly cheat on his wife less frequently

chocolatedot · 04/07/2007 15:57

Why would he spend cash unwisely? Ken is the Master of that. Just ask his fellow members of the Assembly.
