God that makes me feel ill, angry, and deeply depressed. Really, words fail me.

saltire · 04/07/2007 10:16

The bit about the snowy owl eating her chicks was sad. We used to take the DSes there quite a lot, and the owls wer elovely

nailpolish · 04/07/2007 10:19

that is truly sad about the owl

VeniVidiVickiQV · 04/07/2007 10:21

What sad kind of pig-fuckers get entertainment out of frightening animals?

Lizzylou · 04/07/2007 10:21

How awful, some people are truly sick

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 10:22

It's really too bad they didn't encounter a hungry lion.

saltire · 04/07/2007 10:25

They ahve big bears there expat, but even they were taunted by the "youths" (and I use the term loosely) who threw cans at them.

proves my point that Dundee is full of neds!

awww that big old bear who lives at Camperdown is gorgeous

he must be an old man by now, i remember him when i was little

i hope the get caught out

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 10:28

I think you're right there, salty.

Are the animals going to recover? I hope so!

OrmIrian · 04/07/2007 10:30

Nasty ! I think there must be something seriously wrong in the lives of anyone who enjoys feeling more powerful than confined animals.

Callisto · 04/07/2007 12:27

Even if they are caught they won't get a meaningful punishment. It is deeply worrying that a person has so little empathy for other living things he/she would find poking an animals eyes out amusing or entertaining.

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 12:33

Exactly why it is so infuriating and saddening, Callisto. The gits who did this know damn well FA will happen to them even if they're caught.

Bastards!

Callisto · 04/07/2007 12:37

Do you also get the feeling that whoever it is has done similar before and will go on to do more and worse, and not 'just' to animals?

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 12:41

Yes. In fact, links to animal abuse as 'gateway' crimes to far more serious ones have been demonstrated in the number of studies in the US, which lead to animal abuse becoming a felony offense in some US states.

And it is no fun being a convicted felon over there, trust me.

SquareSausage · 04/07/2007 12:42

Thats so sad. I love camper down. DH even wrote a piece about it.

SquareSausage · 04/07/2007 12:43

I think it sounds like weans.
Bored on the school holidays. Little bstards.

OrmIrian · 04/07/2007 12:43

There was that spate of horse mutilations in the south of England a while back. Did anyone get caught for them?

DD has started riding now and it makes me squirm when I see all the beautiful animals at the stables and see how trusting of people they are and just how vulnerable.

clayre · 04/07/2007 12:44

i was really sad when i saw ot on the telly yesterday, thats our local zoo and we take dc there all the time. The zoo must take some responsibilty thou cos its easy to access and theres no security.

TaylorsMummy · 04/07/2007 12:44

omg,how awful that is sickening. poked a terrapin's eyes out?

if only they had let the bears out....

Beelliesebub · 04/07/2007 12:55

I wish they'd let the bears out too!

saltire · 04/07/2007 12:56
