lol @ texan lift and executive hq.

God it's lazy all this isn't it? Lots of posts here, journalist rings up the Odeon and says 'Mothers are outraged', Odeon says 'Oh god, sorry, we'll pull the advert then' and then the news stations all pick up on it. Is absurd.

Gobbledigook · 03/07/2007 09:47

Whereis the original thread?

Hmm, off to watch Sky news

For what it's worth, I'd be livid if I'd taken mine to see Shrek and seen this advert too.

WaynettaSpice · 03/07/2007 09:47

Yes, but Sky and The Times are both part of Rup Murdoch's empire, so they are obviously being ultra lazy!

more lazy journalists

i thought that articles were supposed to be unbiased and represent both sides of the story?

it's not lazy really

that's how stories come about innit

ahundredtimes · 03/07/2007 09:51

I once read the Shell Wives Handbook. Was fascinating. I have no idea how it fell into my grasp, but god it was good.

I think a post hits over 350 posts and a journalist decides it must be a 'hot topic' and writes a piece on it. Let's spend all day posting on the Crap Things They Say in Shops thread and wait for a huge articled headlined 'Are you Being Served? No, not really.'

ahundredtimes · 03/07/2007 09:52

But foxy it aint a STORY is it? It's opinion, which is different.

Cue, dh shouting at the news, 'I don't care what you think you bastard, tell me the NEWS'.

expatinscotland · 03/07/2007 09:52

Cod, methinks you are a frustrated journo.

Career change time!

louii · 03/07/2007 09:52

Ah, the infamous Mumsnet strikes again.

yes but papers aren't all filled with news are they. They are also filled with opinion!

foxinsocks · 03/07/2007 09:53

and stories about ads being pulled often makes the press

ahundredtimes · 03/07/2007 09:54

But that opinion should be accountable shouldn't it. I am a columnist and this is my opinion.
But pg2 in The Times is news isn't it? This happened today. Mothers of Britain are outraged. The odeon has responded. News news news.

No. Is a bunch of women with opinions that a journalist then decides to make news. I don't like it.
